    I miss the old stuff I learned on a old D2 then when I got a little bigger my grandfather put me on the cable D8 and at 14 he taught me how to run the 12f knuckle buster grader now at 45 I'm still running a grader 12H but I still have my families old farm stuff and it runs like a champ D2 D8 cable dozer a Ford 4 lever rubber tire how 12f grader and the last piece he bought just before he passed away his pride and joy a D5 m high track he thought it was just amazing that they took all those steering and gear levers and put them at your finger tips but honestly I've run the latest and greatest cat and Deere has to offer over the years but in my opinion they don't have near the power of the old stuff thanks for sharing your videos

    I sure liie to hear an old machine pop and crack. That last lick is the money lick for a Cat. Something usually gives when that comes around. You need a hoe of some kind to dig the dirt off the stumps. That's what I've been doing but are moving to another job so I get to start loading and the other guy will be hauling. AND am glad to see Pop in his natural environment and tell him I said so, please. And I do believe I saw a UD powerplant lurking in the corner of the picture. Good firewood and and a workout for the RD! Can't b beat. Thanks MUCH, Toby!

    Jerking that chain like that without any protection from behind is a good way to get that chain wrapped around your neck going about 90mph.

  • @jimthode
    @jimthode 2 года назад +1

    At 3:40 Speed that engine up to the design working speed. It is hard on the engine to lug it.

    • @jimthode
      @jimthode 2 года назад

      @@squatch253 Thanks for the answer, you are correct. I measured the RPM on this video when it was lugging down and got 15 pops per second. That calculates to exactly 600rpm. Cool, that is the maximum torque.
      I think in this case of trying to break free a root ball I would have started at the maximum rpm of 850 and used the momentum of the moving machine and reducing engine rpm (to 600rpm) to help break it free. Good video!
