My trailswing should be here tomorrow! AJ hooked me up and got it to me a little early after I got invited to a local MtnRoo ride this weekend! Planning on getting the rotopax mount and the fold out table at some point down the line. Preferably before the July trip haha. Also, congrats to AJ on the half mil miles! Those 4runners are indestructible!
Sounds like a solid setup. So many Subarus are running this tire carrier. It’s the only one I recommend for crossovers because of the best in class departure angle.
Love my trail swing. After my latest cross-country trip I ordered the folding table so I can put my grill on it. I’ve also ordered a propane tank mount (from PowerTanks) for where the rotopax would mount on the side accessory mount.
At first I made my table, but since I was displaying my Honda at Overland Expo West 2021, I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade. There’s alot of good options for a table. I’ve seen a guy use a $150 smittybilt table and mount it upside down. He added a DIY steel plate drop down which makes it a double shelf table. Pretty genius!
These seem expensive until you realize "DESIGNED, MANUFACTURED, & TESTED IN THE USA". Supporting your local American companies always justifies the cost and they seem very well made.
Absolutely @FatalAnimal! We had a friend that bought an Amazon tire carrier and it fell apart after a 130 mile overlanding trip on the Mojave road. He replaced it with the Dirtcom “trail swing”. Also, I think one of the biggest things to consider is convenience. I can buy groceries, open the tire and rear hatch with one hand. That’s a big deal too!
Awesome video I was definitely about to get the ridge ultraswing but I saw your introduction I decided to get this dirt swing instead. I'm planning on to do this on my toyota 2003 4runner v8 4.7 and going go for million mile goal. Also to let you know I beat you to it I'm on 506500 thousand mile on my.😁 by the way congregation keep on going I like to see how long it last.
@@JonDZ_Adventuring how much would that be? I I need more cargo space for my tesla model y. Anyway you can send me a diagram what it would look like and price. Thank you so much
Looks strong and well made. Question, can you still tow a small trailer with this installed? If the swing has a spare mounted on it what reduction in towing capacity is to be expected? Thankyou
So, you can pull a trailer, but the tow capacity gets halved. So for example, my Honda Passport is rated to tow 5000 lbs. and have a tongue eating of 350 lbs., that get’s reduced down to 2500 lbs. and a tongue eating of 175 lbs. because the hitch is extended.
Hey, if you ever decide to get wild and run 35” tires, it’ll come in handy. The trail swing is a great place to put some mountain bikes, everything else, your truck covers utility wise.
Ordered 1/24/2024. 8 week production schedule on website. Still waiting on a ship date. Customer service response are few and far between. This outfit looks to be struggling with delivering. Based on comments around the web, 8 weeks production is a pipe dream.
It might be hard to see, but at 5:32 I had the original prototype trailswing. The stainless steel piece by the bolt wasn’t replaceable and I don’t think there were zerk fittings. The revised version has the American flag laser etched by the handle. Cool to see a company make those improvements with longevity in mind.
@@bajasoobnut oh, the auto stop use to be set at 90 degrees, but they found that it would be more convenient for people to have it stop at 120 or so, that way they can open their hatch to conveniently place something in the cargo area and not have to deal with unlocking the auto stopper.
We ordered ours months ago with no updates or emails other than the confirmation email. Well made product, but it will take forever to actually get it apparently.
The 4th Gen engine is the same as the million mile Tundras that are out there on RUclips. Very similar to the 100 series engine, but those Land Cruiser engines are built to an even higher spec. Over engineered.
The Trail swing truck changed its departure angle by turning to the left while the competitions was straight. Of course it will scrape. I like the trail swing but don’t skew the test.
Thanks for showing me how that rubber on the accessory hitch is installed!
19:25 I changed the serpentine belt in that same Autozone in Flagstaff back in 2017 on my Land Cruiser! LOL.
Great video! Love the Trail Swing!
Thanks 🙏

Beautiful looking hitch. Congrats to AJ on 500k! My GX is 12% the way there!
I’m 20% to half a million, but quite honestly, I don’t expect it to get there. Here’s to hoping though 🤞
Congrats on 500k AJ! I get asked about our Trail Swing all the time! I’m still trying to get down the spiel! 😂
Harry has a good spiel, but takes 5 minutes 🤣
How does the wood on the FR table hold up to the elements? To me is seems pretty risky, but I love the idea lol

Awesome! Hope you used the discount code to save 5%! "JONDZ5". Did you get the HD or regular?
Is this block any of the sensors of the modern vehicles?….. like the back up sensors?
Can you add a cargo hitch on it so the hinging part too? Because I need a cargo space for my tesla model y.
Yes!

I would love to get a trail swing. I don't even want to run a spare tire on it, I just want it for the mounting options.

Oil impregnated brass? Would be interesting to see that as normally it's bronze, also known as oil lite bronze
Theres zerk fittings on the hinge bolt. Pretty cool that you can regrease the bolt.
@@JonDZ_Adventuring that is also good for pushing out foreign debris as well but that adds the longevity for sure adding that in

Unfortunately too rich for a tire carrier. I can have one shipped from Australia and still have money to spare.
