In Florida, dealerships can add whatever they want as a fee. Some places have roughly 2500 in "fee" and then 2500-3000 in mandatory "packages" that have been already done to the car. Tampa dealerships big on that bullshit. Last car I bought, I flew to Virginia to buy

Not cool to potentially get the salesman fired or lose leads because at dealerships that's what typically happens. The benefit of the game of the dealership is the client can win too which is why when dealerships are removing the game the customers get upset and wonder why they can't negotiate.
I was Gona buy a car from California last year and they were 5k over MSRP no budging so I went to my local dealership and they said I'd never get the specific car I wanted in the U.S. A month later I found my car in a diff state, flew there and drove it back to my home state. Now my local dealership keeps calling me saying alot of people want my car and I Wana sell it
invoice isnt real....there are multiple avenues that make up what the car actually cost the dealership....floorplan, holdback, bonus money, incentives per dealership, tons and tons of revenue stream....
Why couldnt they say either yes or no? What difference does enough offer mean? Just say yes or no? we might??? Run like hell. Nice job my man. In this market they need to sell cars and more importantly have a customer for life.
because buyers die. unless you work in the buzz, it's hard to understand how people will waste your time and energy. The perception is that all dealers are bad, and that's not true. especially as the salesman. I can't agree to certain things without my managers approval.
I negotiate what my clients are buying. Which is a lot of Toyota and Honda. I have done some Ford and GMC negotiations on Tiktok, not as much on YT. We are working on some more different brands.
Trying waling into a dealership and being nice and see if that gets you any type of discount. Salespeople are sharks. They will eat you alive!. You need to have a tough skin and sometimes people confused that for being rude but you are not being rude, you are just standing your ground and not letting them push you over. Being nice gets you paying thousands of dollars in interest. If that's what you like then go be nice to them!
Sure he was being kinda rude at first but think of it like this, he just gave that salesmen a challenging prospect for practice so it helps both parties 🎉
It's hard to sympathize with the salesperson here. No matter how you look at it they are trying to fleece you under the premise they are doing you a favor selling you the car. Nice, polite, rude, arrogant - it's still highway robbery to buy a car from today's dealers. MSRP should be the legal upper limit on a car and fees clearly defined by state law to be truly representative of the actual cost. In FL they charge almost $1,000 for a bogus document fee. The real cost is less than $75. That kind of nonsense is why dealers deserve all the grief they get.
I got my kia optima the car waa 25k ans i told them i want it the car 20k out the dook it took 2 days talking with the manager and i got but they had to do it lease to buy, and i pay it off in 2 years total $20,200. the seles person say he can't do it and the managwr got it form me.
What I hate about Toyota dealers is that they load the vehicle up at the port of entry with crap you don't really need, like Toyoguard (wax) and plastic film cover and phone patch cords...and then when the dealership gets it, they like to add more crap you don't need, so a $32K car becomes $37K! And then they BS you to think that they can give you $2500 off to make you smile and sign papers. Toyota makes decent cars but that tactic keeps me from shopping for Toyotas.
I sure hope inventories return to good levels by the time I want another car. Beause I just tell them up front I don't want ANY of that crap, and to take it off or zero it out, but I'M not paying for it. If inventories are tiny, it's harder to get away with that. And I TRULY don't want any of that. For me, these days, for a decent middle class car like the new Toyota Camry HEV (they're all HEV's now), the BASE LE is fine, and the ONLY thing I might want to add if the price is OK, is the factory installed moonroof. For example, when I can get Nav for like $100 with a Garmin, why in the HELL do I want to pay them 10X for that?
I mean, I've been playing with salesmen at different Dodge Dealers for a month now and two managers. We've been bullshitting each other. Absolutely no rudeness on either parties. I will say the salesman did kind of escalate things when he wasn't being given the quote in writing from the other dealer, that's when I noticed the attitude start up and the refusal to cooperate, and it was matched. Me personally, I'd have just said thanks and hung up, then called the dealership back and ask to speak to a sales manager, you can always speak directly to a manager. They'll either work with you directly (which, ultimately most sales end with dealing with them anyway), or they'll delegate. You can then just say cool, don't give me so and so. But yes, you have to lie and bullshit just as much as they do, if not more. Look at it like court. The Defense and the Prosecution each spin a web of bs and it comes down to who bs' the best to the jury when they make a decision. (Aside from overwhelming evidence). Same thing. I get the salesman is saying below invoice...most dealers almost never want to reveal their invoice price though, so that may have very well been a lie in itself. Toyota is one brand that isn't hurting so much in the market, they're making decent profit on their sales currently, unlike Dodge and Nissan.
Judging from the length of your comment...salesmen must run and hide when you walk into the joint. It doesn't need to be this complicated. You can be in charge.
This salesman is rude and rather harsh on the phone, dealing with dealerships that don’t care about making a deal but busting your wallet into paying more, bunch of BS
As a former auto salesman, I wanna say these calls are staged but the sales managers always sound exactly like sales managers and finance always be doing finance things 😂
its weird to me that these guys will lose an entire sale for a few bucks. I would rather sell anything even at a loss, since i still get paid something. This way of thinking boggles my mind. The greed has taken over everywhere.
Most of you here probably don't understand how dealerships work. The factory makes all the money at the dealer invoice price or any other price you might negotiate. The owner makes money (some) at dealer invoice price. Under most dealer pay plans, though, the sales managers and definitely the salespeople don't make jack at dealer invoice price. As the consumer, you are not negotiating with the factory, nor are you negotiating with the owner of the dealership. You are dealing with the people who only make money if the price is above the dealer invoice cost. If you can't make it worth their while, why would they ever accept your lowball offer? A mini commission at many stores is $100 or $200. It's impossible to make a living taking only mini deals. If the car is 100 days on the lot, sure. Take the lowball offer. But a hot model like a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid? GTFO. We have families, too.
Because dealerships understand the long play isn’t in new car sales. It’s a long term relationship with service. It’s finance. It’s parts. Dealership also has holdback.
Translation: "We need to make a profit on this at all costs and we're going to squeeze every penny out of you." Nice try my guy, you're barking up the wrong tree.
@Delivrd , the point here is that you are not negotiating with the "dealership". You are negotiating with salespeople and sales managers. They don't get paid on profit from warranty claims or parts. They generally don't get paid on holdback, either--not after dealer pack, anyway. They only make money if the car you buy returns a profit. This is why they fight for gross and don't lay down and take your low-ball offers--especially when they don't have to on a fast-moving model. Supply and demand set the price, not dealer invoice cost.
Not really. The sales guy seemed pretty reasonable. He wants to see the competing offer in writing because people like Tomi lie to them to get more advantageous offers.
I mean why does it matter. This is the point I think consumers have. You are either willing to sell the car or not at that number. Why do I as a consumer have to play this game?
that's a lie. if you know how this market and dealers work, you know the salesman has no power. You also know you have to come with proof of a previous offer to match or beat.

In Illinois...it is set by statute. You will never ever have that waived.
In Florida, dealerships can add whatever they want as a fee. Some places have roughly 2500 in "fee" and then 2500-3000 in mandatory "packages" that have been already done to the car. Tampa dealerships big on that bullshit. Last car I bought, I flew to Virginia to buy
@@RLTtizME Most places it is only required as an anti discrimination policy. If they charge it, that is if, then they have to charge it to all. It doesn't matter anyway, just take it in as part of the out the door price so they delete it / offset it by reducing the car cost line. Its just a way to squeeze you out of more money.
@@elliott3991 In Illinois you will see it on every sale. $351.00. I wouldn't waste a minute dickering over that. I would just compensate for it with the agreed discounted price of the vehicle. it is taxable btw.
doc fees are not mandatory or set by law at least in Oklahoma, they always say it is but i just bought a new GMC with zero fees. Paid MSRP and that’s it done
Dealers want to see the competitors number, but they never want to give theirs too you.
Does this strategy work for used cars - asking to beat a competitor’s offer? All cars would be different, rarely the same for the BMWs I’m looking at
Tomi was trying to cut thru the crap with Rob. He did. and got to the sales mgr pretty quickly. what's wrong with that?
Sale man wins this one. He knows you just bluffing.
Not necessarily true.
He didn't "win" because he didn't close the sale.
@@RearviewMirror-ij2prI’m surprised they didn’t say we have someone coming over this weekend to look at it. 😆
Tomi makes a valid point. And a 10:00 she basically says " send me the offer for my info ,not to help buyer"
She left out the part where they wanted to make sure he wasn’t lying to them. Which he probably is.
@@tv92taylor Then call his bluff. The issue I have is don't ask for the quote if you aren't going to match it.She asked him to send it over so she could see how they " do business"
Again it’s different if she said she’d match it. I was waiting on the offer, but if I don’t have a guarentee as a buyer. Why give free intel
@@Delivrd As someone who has negotiated sales/leases for decades I quit offering up quotes unless they'd match them. I often get the " yeah ,send it over and we will do the deal" Only to get a " wow that's too thin for us"

Honestly, both parties are argumentative. Perpetuating the “dance” that we all hate. Just move on if you can’t get your price.
Exactly why I HATE sales people. Play games all day long to make top dollar for their boss/dealership in this case and hope to get throw a bone themselves from it. Gezzus.
That door swings both ways. Customers are just as bad sometimes.
Not cool to potentially get the salesman fired or lose leads because at dealerships that's what typically happens. The benefit of the game of the dealership is the client can win too which is why when dealerships are removing the game the customers get upset and wonder why they can't negotiate.
F Bob.😊
I was Gona buy a car from California last year and they were 5k over MSRP no budging so I went to my local dealership and they said I'd never get the specific car I wanted in the U.S. A month later I found my car in a diff state, flew there and drove it back to my home state. Now my local dealership keeps calling me saying alot of people want my car and I Wana sell it
Tomi how does the dealership still make money when it is below invoice because we know they still do.
They make money on holdback, money off financing, manufacturer incentives, money on unit bonuses ,believe me they never lose money.
There is a holdback on each car sold.
It’s called keep the inventory moving! If not all the cars just gonna sit there collecting interest!
invoice isnt real....there are multiple avenues that make up what the car actually cost the dealership....floorplan, holdback, bonus money, incentives per dealership, tons and tons of revenue stream....
@@kirkdunn1379 We don't know about the "tons and tons" part. We think you just made that up.
I can't agree to certain things without my managers approval.
well done but i don't understand why you accept to receive their offer in your phone if you already have a better one
My only question is why only Toyota and Honda in these videos..? Why not Chevy, Ford, Dodge, GMC...?
I negotiate what my clients are buying. Which is a lot of Toyota and Honda. I have done some Ford and GMC negotiations on Tiktok, not as much on YT. We are working on some more different brands.
I think you meant "listen back to the recording "objectively,"
"not "subjectively "

Did you edit out the part where you asked him if you changed your name would it make a difference?
This guy makes dealerships look good.
Where can I find that Dealership?
toyota of poway ca
@@Cory69 Haha, they are in my back yard. People out here in SoCal have their heads spun on backwards.
Sure he was being kinda rude at first but think of it like this, he just gave that salesmen a challenging prospect for practice so it helps both parties 🎉
The sales people in San Diego area are a pain in the @$$ to deal with.
Hey rob was doing alright. He's just used to dealing with people that don't know.
They tried to farm market knowledge from Tomi AND they weren’t going to match the offer. Tomi was in the right here
I got my kia optima the car waa 25k ans i told them i want it the car 20k out the dook it took 2 days talking with the manager and i got but they had to do it lease to buy, and i pay it off in 2 years total $20,200. the seles person say he can't do it and the managwr got it form me.
I hate dealerships but in this instance, dealer is in the right and Tomi is being a douche.
I want to hear more about the weekend.
I thought she was actually pretty cool no nonsense.
Tomi acts like a child on the phone.
This salesman is rude and rather harsh on the phone, dealing with dealerships that don’t care about making a deal but busting your wallet into paying more, bunch of BS
Sounds like they called you out on your bullcrap and you ended up wasting their time and your time.
Nice work!

Buying cars for clients
Translation: "We need to make a profit on this at all costs and we're going to squeeze every penny out of you."
Nice try my guy, you're barking up the wrong tree.
@@guapo492 , just like you have zero mercy for us, whether we make a living or starve. It goes both ways.
