  • Soil in the forest is enriched by decaying vegetation. If you have forested areas available for your use you may be able to harvest quality soil. In this video you will learn what to do and what not to do. If you want to learn how to cultivate, please see my video: • Better than Weeding

I do this in WV! I really like finding old rotted trees, especially white oaks, for the rich material but also for the amazing microbial life!! It's an amazing amendment and especially amazing for brewing teas with native microbes!

I have some big oaks on my property and was harvesting leaves for chicken bedding. I came across rich loamy looking material underneath and started wondering if i could use it. I came across your video. Thanks for sharing.

I would argue weed seeds are not all bad, but there are good kinds and bad kinds based on what you're growing, if in the earth earth, let them ride, they cycle and work to bring up minerals and nutrients from deeper down to fix the soil composition and aeration, however in a bed with a liner bottom I an see how its more of an issue, better to have a controlled cover crop

@frkifrk I'm gonna assume you are making assumptions....some people own forested land. Which makes this the best way to use compost for gardening while maintaining your property.

Well, I`m poor, no car, and need food, and I gather small amounts from spots all over the area on family land, then cover it back with leaves. There`s a 7 ft square 4 ft deep mystery pit in the woods that I rake leaves into to break down as well. People have done this for thousands of years to get natural mulch and fertilizer. I also use all my grass clippings and fallen leaves mixed together. Millions send these to landfills. I paid 15 bucks for "organic" soil I ordered and it wouldn`t fill two pots. Nothing grows in it. I put some near a mustard plant and adjusted PH and it turned yellow. These companies are selling toxic compost contaminated with herbicides....and they KNOW IT!

These types are running the country right now. We`ll be lucky to survive this year. Their goal? Chaos, death, control, and destruction. The very last thing they want to see is self-sufficiency and success. They have a goal to destroy 90% of the population. Be ready because you`ll have to be able to survive with what you already have when it begins. @@jadabluford2155
