His voice reminds me of my daddy, when I was a kid my daddy played him all the time ☺️ none of my friends around me knew his music so when I hear him it’s special because it reminds me of innocent times in my life growing up 🤷🏻♂️
I'll always be a fan of Gene Pitney and we even named our second son 'Gene'. And yes, i did get to meet him. Pitney influenced my life greatly and i have had a wonderful 60 years singing in many countries. Great clip, but somewhat compromised by the last song, which is an audio track drop in, as can be noted by the poor lip sync.
Pitney in his prime, indeed! The 1966 Musicor "Backstage" album featured some of Gene's best written and sung tunes. "Angelique", in my opinion, claims the centerpiece. To hear Pitney deliver this song accompanied by an orchestra is a rare treat, indeed. Thanks for sharing this concert.
Gene Pitney was the first pop artist to sing a Top C in his last note of 'I'm Gonna be Strong'. A unique and sometimes harsh voice, but fans loved him for just that - his individual style. Died too young. The person who compiled this clip should sort out some of the bad editing. Nice memories!
@lauraanderson2429 It's very different, but please look at Franco Corelli - 'Nessun Dorma' on RUclips. There are several clips of him singing this aria, but they are all magnificent.
@lauraanderson2429 Roy Orbison sings 'The Actress' and 'It takes all kinds of people' - songs where he asends to a Top C. Lou Gramm from Foreigner had a unique voice and often sang notes higher than Top C. I'm sure there are others.
The people in that audience are so lucky to see and hear him in person and so up close ❤
צודקת!
I saw him three times ❤❤❤
This is a gem, thanks so much for posting this. I was lucky enough to see him in 1985 for my 14th birthday, he was fantastic! 💖
Absolutely, fantastic singer, I could listen to him all night. 💞

The Rockville Rocket!
The Pit is it!
Mary Wilson of the Supremes brought me here. He was her favorite singer.
El público parece muerto..... No soy de esa época como no se están moviendo... O siguiendo el ritmo lui é bravissimo
Why did they pull the curtains shut on the orchestra for a couple songs, and then open them again? It made no sense.
Grande Gene Pitney,si è sposato qui in Italia prima di S .Remo.❤❤❤
Backstage a classic.
Yes I noticed it was too fast too.
too bad they increased the tempo for the songs....ruined it for me....
Change speed to .75
