In the wake of Rebecca Budig's recent addition to The Bold & The Beautiful's cast, I decided to revisit her first appearance in an ABC soap opening-All My Children (as Greenlee Smythe) in early 2000.
It's kind of hard to imagine an AMC where supercouple Leo du Pres and Greenlee Smythe didn't exist-at least for me, who only started watching just before they debuted on the show. But 29 years of AMC happened before the "Greenleo" duo premiered, and 30 years of AMC happened before either joined the opening sequence.
Josh Duhamel, an instant star as Leo and later a film star, and Rebecca Budig, who tackled Guiding Light before her role as Greenlee, both are added to Version 1 in this update. Despite their additions, the number of cast members featured actually dropped from a whopping 18 to 17 from the previous update.
This is due to a reshuffling that saw Julia Barr (Brooke English) and Jill Larson (Opal) shifted to Version 2, and John Callahan (Edmund Grey) go from dual inclusion to just Version 2.
By the way, Duhamel/Leo joined AMC on contract in November 1999, while Budig/Greenlee joined AMC on recurring three months prior but was upped to contract status not long before this update.
The only removal in this update from either version is 10-year vet James Kiberd (Trevor Dillon), who departed AMC in January 2000 and never returned.
Abigail Spencer and Forbes March (Becca Tyree & Scott Chandler, respectively) receive new images from the same reels. Spencer/Becca showed teeth and didn't turn in her previous image. March/Scott was more animate in his previous image.
Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) receives a new image from a new reel.
