- I own nothing, I collect nothing.
In what has to already be the 15th or so update to the AMC "Curtains" opening, the sequence introduces Jeffrey Carlson (Zarf/Zoe) for the first time. Carlson, you may recall, played the transgender character Freddie "Zarf" Luper, who eventually became Zoe Luper. Carlson/Zarf/Zoe-who joined AMC on a recurring basis in August 2006 then was elevated to contract status that November-sadly passed away at 48 in 2023.
This update of "Curtains" says goodbye to Connie Fletcher (Erin Lavery), who last aired in December 2006 when Erin was murdered. More notably, for the first time since AMC went to image-based openings, Julia Barr (Brooke English) is absent-Barr/Julia was let go in November 2006 after rejecting an opportunity to remain with AMC on recurring status.
Fortunately, this would NOT be the end of Brooke-Barr would return to AMC for two extended stints prior to its ABC demise, then re-join the show on-contract when it went online in 2013.
Given the state of what used to be the two "falling pics" segments originally prominent in "Curtains", I expected the first wave to end up in a state similar to the second wave-if it could even still be called that by 2007-with Barr's departure.
After all, when previous "falling" images of Eva LaRue (Maria Santos) and John Callahan (Edmund Grey) were removed from the first wave, they were not replaced. And once all the original actors from the second wave left...that whole segment became unrecognizable.
But to my surprise, the image of Bobbie Eakes (Krystal Carey) is smoothly converted to a "falling" image to replace Barr's. And the image of Alec Musser (Del Henry) is half-heartedly converted to a "falling" image in the second wave. So there's that.
Throughout both her contract stints with AMC during the "Curtains" era, Eden Riegel (Bianca Montgomery) held the penultimate shot next to Susan Lucci (Erica Kane)'s second image. Here, however, Riegel/Bianca shifts from her familiar slot to the middle, where her love interest Carlson/Zoe is placed. Riegel/Bianca's image is a fresh one (from the existing reel), and also her first one in over four years without her hand through her hair.
As best as I can tell, neither the images at the beginning nor the end of the album have changed from the December 2006 "Curtains" update.
