  • There are generations of ancient Ojibwe artworks and symbols painted in Red Ochre. These paintings are on the hard cliff walls that rise straight out of the water. Some of the images are quite abstract and probably represent mythological creatures that represented the stormy spirits of Lake Superior and her sometimes stormy spirits.

Look a LOT like Norse/Scandanavian pictographs. That, along with the Christian cross makes the origin of these very questionable.... Also so cool to see that behemouth and leviathan (dinosaurs and sea creatures) were still around then! These are not "mythological" creatures.

Right? It's a pretty amazing thing to see and when you reflect on the ancient history here, it's just a wow factor.
