      @@PsychExamReview I have one doubt can i ask you the doubt is I'm preparing for one toughest exam in india for that i have to select one optional subject and i have to master it like a specialist before appearing for that exam i decided I'm going to take psychology but when i joined in coaching classes due to less exposure to psychology i accidentally took another Subject that is anthropology its a static subject and scoring in that exam and i took classes too bought everything related to anthropology and I'm familiar with it but i wasted 1 year to think whether i should change my optional to psychology bcoz I'm a introvert and i was emotionally weak so that i thought taking psychology will help me to become strong mentally and emotionally and i even i started studying psychology then i tell myself go with anthropology even when i sit with anthropology i always thing about psychology as you know psychology is all about understanding and anthropology is all about fact what should i do anthropology has lot of knowledge related to indian tradition after getting into service it'll helo me but i think psychology will help me to keep myself emotionally and mentally strong i can manage myself what should i do and i have one regret to like leaving anthropology because i spended a lot for it help me i don't have mentor or no sibling no one to ask about this and people's preparing with this subject are very rare to see from childhood itself i didn't studied what i want i faced lot of problems like heartbroken,depression, extreme frustration, loneliness etc I'm more into understanding rather than memorizing facts but the think is i don't have a mentor who can guide me in this journey i need your suggestion like what should i do because in the end I'm going to deal with people's i think that psychology knowledge will help me till my end

    I am a student from India. I wish to take a Psychology course after my 10th. I am very much interested in Forensic Psychology and Neuroscience. If I have to study ANY ONE of this course should I first have a degree in Psychology..?

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  6 месяцев назад +3

      I don't know much about the Indian education system but I think if you have a fairly good grasp of the major concepts in introductory psychology and introductory statistics then you shouldn't need a full degree in order to understand the concepts in either of these classes (unless these are advanced level courses) so your level of interest should be the main determinant of which you take. If you can look over the syllabus or the course materials this should help you decide which covers the topics that you most want to learn.

    Could you suggest a textbook?

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  11 месяцев назад

      For introductory textbooks most cover similar content, though the one I've liked using most in my classes previously has been Psychology by Gilbert, Nock, Schacter, and Wegner.
      I do also sell my own guidebook to introductory psychology (titled Master Introductory Psychology), which is a lower-cost alternative focused on explaining the key concepts, with fewer images, cartoons, and examples compared to most introductory texts. It's available in a full 16 unit edition (print only), or as a series of shorter ebooks, each covering 4 units.
      Hope this helps!

      This is a good demonstration of the need for considering sexual selection as well as natural selection. It's not just survival, we also need to pass on genes to offspring and that means mating successfully. Some traits may reduce survival but increase reproduction, passing on the trait. This can occur because the survival cost comes later (as in the quote) or because a boost to reproduction comes to those who survive. For example, bravery may reduce the chances of individual men surviving, but if those who do survive are considered more attractive and have more children than those who aren't brave, then the trait can still continue even if many of the men having it died young. It's worth noting that this example is over-simplified and in real life things would be much more complicated.

      Hi, glad to hear that! While there are some online programs for psychology I don't have any experience with them and don't have any specific recommendations. If you're currently a medical student I would suggest asking about any psychology-related courses at your university that you might be able to add into your program.
