- 1st video of a series of tutorials on how to convert every section of the bike from the 3rd Gen 08-16 Yamaha R6 to the new body style 17-20.
In the next videos I will cover the tail section as well as the complete wiring modifications to make all the lights work as well as the new fuel pump.

I made an adapter plate for the dash so I could get all 3 bolts. Track use only it needs to be secure.
hey i know this is old video, but i wanted to ask if a digital dash from newer yamahas would work on older ones ? , i have 2010 yamaha r6 and i plan to do the conversion also, but the old dash triggers me a little bit and i couldnt find any forums and info about it anywhere else, mybe you would know.
I'm not sure it would work and I don't think it's worth it to be honest. what might also happen if it works is that it will be lit up like a Christmas tree with ABS and traction control light's since the bike I'snt equipped with those.

I think your description should read converting from GEN 2 to GEN 3 - 2015 was gen 2 - gen 3 is 2016-2020.

It actaually went from 3rd gen to 4th gen though. also 4th gen started in 2017 not 2016
@@immortalengines1605 I see that now thanks , I have to repair my front end on my 2019 R6 , steering stop was sheered off and the main plastic duct was jammed into the carbon front cowling so I was mostly just taking a nice look at the internals before I begin repair work.

With race bodywork the rectifier doesn’t get any airflow. It needs to be relocated or it gets hot and fails.
Why didn't you change the gauge cluster for the new one? Is it even possible? Im interested
Not worth the hassle. I look at the road not my cluster when I ride.

Very clean conversion but i think that takn swap is expencive. I mean stock tank looks great with 17+ front fairings even wih older tail fairings. Thx for sharing
yea it does double the price to do the tank and subframe but the good thing is you can do half the bike save up and finish the rest later
@@immortalengines1605 Yeah. 4th generation difference is minor so you can step by step change, front after tail and fuel tank for fully conversation.

How close is the stock painted tank compared to the aftermarket fairings? It’s looks spot on
The Fairings Are OEM and the tank got a paint match at a body shop. the paint color is identical!

Can you plug in the 4th gen gauge cluster into the 3rd gen?
Negative, the plugs are different and so is the way the signal is is sent.
"easiest" thing to do would be to swap the wiring harness along with the ecu and cluster. however at that point you would also need ABS traction control modules and to swap the rims. might as well get the newer bike.

I personally never Owned a Honda but basically if the main frame is the same then it's possible that the front end is just a "Bolt on"

I know this is old but are your selling your old fairings?? I currently have a 2015 r6 and the left and right side fairings broke from hitting a pothole
Sorry I sold them a long time ago. best you can do is order new oem ones.

Not worth it. the connectors are different and if just one pin is incorrect you can fry everything.

Can you do this conversion on a 2006?
I know someone did it with a 07 but 06 I am not sure. but it's simple if the 08-16 fairings fit your 06 then yes if they don't then no
how about the electronics of old R6, can we/you update it upto the lates electronic rider aid ?
In order to gain the rider aids you will need the 4th gen wheels with the abs rings, 4th Gen wiring, 4th Gen ecu, abs pump, 4th Gen dash to mention a few.. if you want the rider aids just get a 4th Gen. This is just for looks

@@lorenzogarcia9890 I understand. Maybe try to find a wrecked bike and buy it just to get all the electronics from it. I personally don't need the ABS and traction control but if you do that would be your best bet.

could you do a front end conversion and keep all the other original fairings? side and rear fairings etc, i just want to convert the front headlights of my r6, i have the 2013 model
if you do the front you have to do the sides. you can leave the tail and tank but if you do the tail then you must do the tank as well or vise versa
