    There is also the shift shaft seal that’s notorious for leaking. Now you need to add Power Steering. Nice Nova 👍

      Good call! I will be doing a video soon on that fix.

    Im about 100 miles in on my tci th350 with a sbc350 and already dropping tranny fluid in a Shelby Cobra kit car (put on a 73 vette chassis and power plant). Going to check this one, i did have to swap out the B&M rachet shifter to the quicksilver shifter.

      Sounds like a cool project! Yes, unfortunately these TH350s are known to leak. This helps though; good luck!

    Yeah man thank you. My 1982 Camaro is doing exactly this too. Leaks from what looked like the cable. I am going to do the inner ring and then the rear seal too.

    I have a TH350 in my 70 Monte Carlo that's leaking good tips to check , typically after driving the car, I will notice a pool of transmission fluid, and I had to top off my trans fluid

    • @BadHombreGarage
      @BadHombreGarage  8 месяцев назад +2

      It could be many things… I’d check the speedometer cable output, the gasket around the pan, the shifter shaft, and the dipstick tube.

      @@BadHombreGarage i just had dakota digital gauges installed and the mechanic installed a BIM unit for speedo and gear shift, imma try the simplest thing 1st pan gasket/filter and new pan..summit had a complete kit ..54 year old car, i can't hurt

    It helps to know vehicle history when finding an external correction box on the speedo drive. I had to get one made years back on an 'as-is' purchase: axle tube code suggested 3.31, but it was really a 3.70 as received. My speedometer excited a few passengers before fixing, but the car wasn't nearly that fast. If you can figure out the correction, that tells you what was behind it before.

      Yes, either that or a lot of trial and error. Thanks for watching!

    We have built several hot rods over the years. Put in a 400, 350, 327, 283 currently have a 6.0 working on also.. Had several th350's one already in a car used and another rebuilt.. have a 350 turbo that was rebuilt setting around, used it..seems like every single time we build an engine the trans ALWAYS leaks, or develops a leak.. i have always checked everything no matter what, rebuilt or a used trans.. changed all seals on the sides, everything even put on a $35 re usable moroso pan gasket and new aftermarket pan, checked everywhere.. and every time there are always leaks.. owned 2 or 3 camaros built 4 or 5 motors and every single time the trans leaks no matter what is done to it.. i've had them leak at the tailshaft, on the sides, dripping off the pan, around the shift shaft, i've fixed issues only to have another area come back...im talking some bad leaks, i have resolved them only to realize there is ALWAYS a minor leak somewhere..also my dad has messed with 350 turbos for 40 years.. the only transmissions I've had that didnt leak were 4l60's that were already in an f body from the factory.. i dont get it..thinking about spending a grand or so on a monster transmission next time i put an engine together.. strong transmissions but having a hard time understanding how people get these 350 turbos from swap meets for a few hundred throw them in a hot rod, go to the track or car shows in a 5 or 6 hundred hp car and never have them leak ever on the track or anything..i've had nothing but leaking issues with them amd thats with me being pretty thorough taking my time and just driving on the street some.. maybe its the fact these transmissions in circulation that were in street cars originally are 40+ years old?? they phased out 3 speed 350 turbos in the early 80's.. nothing but issues for me with leaks... ofcourse this stuff is stuff thats happened over the last 15 or 20 years..a shop even put a new case in one.. i dont get it.. kinda ruins the whole hot rodding thing for me. These transmissions are everywhere but has anyone else been through the wringer with leaks? Is everyone using an aftermarket racing transmission like monster? I used to think they leaked a little when i was a teenager and had one 15 yrars ago because i didnt spend the extra money on them like everyone else does, going the extra mile buying the best most expensive gaskets, pans, and dipsticks but now i do all that.. and they STILL leak 😡 smh..
