  • Take a jaunt around San Francisco's Panama Pacific Expo in vintage video, music written and sung for the fair, plus a John Phillip Souza march played by the U.S. Military Band today and written and conducted by Souza in 1915. There's also commentary by two contemporaries of the exposition and what they thought of the world's fair, one famous writer, Laura Ingalls Wilder, who wrote the books that spawned the TV series Little House on the Prairie. Narration by Jason Donovan.

@americasbesthistory Absolutely! I often think about if they had invested just a bit more and made them all steel frame and Terra cotta instead of wood and staff and had kept all the main "palace" buildings in Chicago, Buffalo, St. Louis, Seattle, San Fran (both 1915 and the Treasure Island one) and all the other world's fairs of the Golden age... they kept most of the buildings, court yards and water features in Sand Diego from their fair and made it a park/Zoo/Botanical Gardens and it is considered the jewel of the city... and it was a smaller fair, imagine what an asset they would be to cities to have Beaux Arts/Neoclassical park districts with museums, botanical gardens, convention centers, markets, etc.... whatever would work there. What a lost opportunity!

There has been a reset. This city wasnt built by who history says it was. They are no shacks
