How enjoyable to receive a lecture from this very gifted and scholarly teacher.

Good summary lecture, especially Plutarch’s observation on character. To wit: anecdotes are more telling than a list of accomplishments. An anecdote, often recalled by a contemporary, best reveals aspects of a person’s true nature.

Really enjoyed it. Particularly the longtime supposed dichotomy between liberty and safety coming from so far back.

    “Plutarch admired Cicero”
    Not true. Wow
P thought Cicero lacked courage, said so many times

As a method for making man better as citizens and as individuals, history is obtuse compared to the Jesus-Transform. See the pdf of Triune Salvation by John G. Lake.

Painful to listen to, clearly this fellow is in love with his own voice. Reminiscent of a common televangelist. I can imagine being trapped in a classroom with him at 2pm with the heating on too high, the buzz of sleep beckoning in my ears.

Maybe he’s just a experienced lecturer who happens to like his job.

I think the "in love with his voice" you're hearing is just an orator being passionate about the subject. Especially considering the topic I find it quite fitting.

Josephus falvius said that Jesus was the Christ. But Josephus also says vespasian Flavius is the messiah in the book wars of the Jews. So is Jesus the Messiah? Suetonius & tacitus said the same thing

Dude probably thinks he's a great orator LOL
This is one of the worst reviewed courses in the great courses catalog for a reason, I can't imagine the people defending him have listened to many good lecturers if they think this is good. Professor Fagan's course is so much better!

@@WorthlessWinner lectures are not about being entertaining, there about teaching what you know, to the best of your abilities. In my honest opinion.
