  • The Dare County Water Department has announced the launch of DropCountr, a free digital platform and innovative mobile app designed to help Dare County water customers monitor and manage their water usage more easily and effectively.
To introduce this exciting new tool, Dare County, in collaboration with Current TV, has released a video featuring Professor Faucet, a popular fictional character who was originally introduced by the Dare County Water Department in the late 1990s to educate and inform the public about a variety of water-related topics.
Relaunched in October 2024, Professor Faucet now boasts a brand-new look for 2024 and beyond that includes the surfboard-turned-lab kit that he uses to battle water issues and share his expertise when it comes to all things water each week at DareNC.gov/Faucet.
In the new video, which is part of Current TV’s Destination Dare series, Professor Faucet shares essential information about the DropCountr platform, guiding viewers through its wide array of unique features and highlighting the benefits it offers to users. Professor Faucet was designed to deliver fun factoids and dispel common water myths, and his video walkthrough provides insights into how DropCountr can help users conserve water, save time and ultimately reduce utility costs.
Available to all Dare County water customers with a utility account, the DropCountr app allows users to view personal water usage data, compare it to similar households and set efficiency goals. The platform also offers access to utility updates and conservation tips to support water-saving efforts across the community.
The DropCountr app is free to download from any mobile device app store, and customers can also access the platform online at DropCountr.com. To register, users will need their name and account number, as shown on their Dare County Water Department utility bill.
