    I have always considered myself a "Project" Manager (dealing with stakeholders, timelines, resources, budgets, scope, etc) but at my last role I spent a significant amount of time involved in the kind of work this video outlines. Watching this makes me realize I need to weave some "Product" management wording into my resume.

    The video I just watched is hands down the best for understanding the essential skills a PM needs. It's truly incredible.

    Hi Liam, I'm 19y/o studying finance and cognitive science at university. I discovered your channel recently. THANK YOU for providing incredible value in every video. I will be a product management intern at a tech startup this summer and already feel more prepared for the role after watching all your videos. Keep up the great work and can't wait for your next video! :)

    Liam I can't stress enough how informative and thorough your 12:51 minute video was! I got more insight on specifics of the PM role then an 11 hour course I took on becoming a PM! Looking forward to watching your other videos. Thanks again, and you rock!

    I found this shockingly helpful as someone with no specific education in the realm of product ownership, but who has managed to land there in our growing startup. I’ve got a good to-do list to make sure I’m growing into the role!

    1. Yes! Please don’t use AI buzzwords if you don’t understand them. Senior PMs will suss you out and question your motives.
    2. ALWAYS ask your engineering lead for an architectural design diagram, a functional flow diagram, and a data flow diagram. Could be all-in-one. And understand it fully!

    So which component takes up most of your time? What do your daily activities look like?
    If the designers are more informed about user interface design would the product manager role be testing and researching their design choices? How much of a say does the product manager have in the design?

    I have all these skills. Experience as ux designer, I looked into creating my own business figuring it out and have an understanding of the domain, and have an understanding of technology domain as I have an engineering degree in IT. I want to get into PM since I enjoy getting to know user needs get into behavior patterns, spot opportunities to add value to users and to the business, I understand analytics. How do i go about getting a job in this field since I have no experience as PM? As a fresher in this field? I have designed degree, I have IT engineering degree and I have self taught business acumen.

    Hi @Liam, can you also share your insights on how to understand what the interviewer is evaluating on? I feel it is a lot of luck as interviewer might be wearing a special hat and trying to test us on that specific skill.
    What are the right questions/tricks to find out the interviwers' evaluation criteria?

    • @liambolling
      @liambolling  2 года назад +1

      i personally tell the candidate what pillars i’m evaluating on and it’s expected that the candidate does some homework before the interview (or ask the recruiter) more details on what those pillars entail. i feel like it’s fair to ask the interviewer if they don’t tell you up front.
