And yet that one kick is still the most brutal moment of the whole movie. I've never seen a single person watch that, and not just completely crease.

    • @michaelwestmoreland2530

      There's some rule I read about horror movies. That seeing big, dramatic violence is less impactful than small injuries for some reason. Like throwing a guy into a wood chipper is rough, but everyone with legs doubled over in agony when that kick missed.

    • @jnhzrk6841
      @jnhzrk6841 3 года назад +20

      That’s probably because you can’t imagine the feeling of being thrown into a wood chipper, but you can sure as hell imagine kicking that beam.

    • @standard-carrier-wo-chan
      @standard-carrier-wo-chan Год назад +5

      @@jnhzrk6841 Exactly. If you want to make an impactful scene, make it relatable. Hitting such a hard kick on the shin will make anyone wince, especially because most people definitely have had hit their shin either lightly or heavily, and imagination takes the rest.

    Iko Uwais did the choreography of the fight, combining Pencak Silat, Judo and Wushu moves. Of course, Iko used Pencak Silat and Joe used both his Wushu and Judo skills. It was the most brutal fight scene ever choreographed by Iko Uwais.

    The martial arts genre films that give me goosebumps are :
    The Night Comes For Us.
    Brutal scenes, violence, endless fights, attractions and characters that have their own distinctive style. Merged into one in the film. Even when I first watched The Night Come For Us, I immediately concluded that the film not only shows how to beat the opponent, but how to fight to stay alive. In this film, the fight scenes are very different when compared to other martial arts genre films. Even the film shows scenes of violence against women fighting.
    In fact, the feeling I felt while watching this film was very different. Actually, it doesn't look like a martial arts movie but a horror movie. For some reason, I liked the roles played by the 3 women in the film. While I also liked the Mortal Kombat movies (Kitana and Sonya), I wasn't particularly interested in the female leads in Mortal Kombat, as if they had a different class appearance in the fight scenes compared to The Night Come For Us.
    Just my opinion :
    10/10 Gore and Brutal for martial arts
    (The Night Come For Us).

    Take a look a the most recent interview from Scott Adkins with Joe Taslim on 'the art of action'. Really interesting interview and some insight on how Joe got started.

    You take an inch of your fingers, starting from the belly button, move an inch continuosly whether to the upper side of your body and forward to your head and face area , or to the sides or even to the lower of your body , it will point to the weakest points of human beings. Points that you can strike with the most minimum pressure regardless the size of your oppenent. It could crush, break, suffocate, knock out or even suffocate your opponent with a single strike. Unless youre Superman.
