You have mentioned that complex views do not support DML operations and used a Term *At A Time*. I have created a view called vTestParentChild which consists of a select query having join of two tables TableParent and TableChild and when I perform update operation like update vTestParentChild set ParentName = 'P1' where ParentId = 1 and *it's being updated*. So it's confusing.

using CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW you can modify the view definition.
EG: CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emp_view AS first_name, last_name , department_number[new column] FROM employees;
