- Metabase is a data visualization tool, but open source!
It is similar to other data viz tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Looker but a bit more scaled down.
It's intended primarily for data visualization vs more intense analytics needs.
But, you can still do a lot with Metabase and there are many scenarios where it can be sufficient for your needs.
It allows you to create custom dashboards, send reports out on a subscription and much more.
In today's video I'll show you step by step how to start using this tool on your local machine.
There is a cloud hosted option, but I want to help you try this great tool without paying anything extra.

If I have a sql server database and I want to connect to it in Metabase and create a dashboard, and I want the dashboard to be live (the visuals refresh automatically when new data comes in the database), similar to Direct Query in Power BI, is that possible in Metabase?

But for learning purpose on my personal laptop I would like to connect Metabase with a local database server like SQL Server or Postgres. Can you create a small video on how to setup connection between Metabase and (SQL Server or Postgres or MySQL).

@@pranavdherange7238 Nah, I don't think it's possible unless you go for the cloud version, which is kinda pricey. Instead, I use Streamlit. It's a Python framework for making web-apps (works for dashboards too) and can be hosted for free and shared with everyone easily.
I forgot metabase login but i have all the file mount to my PC.
Can i extract those login details.
