Friend.. this is a "godmother" wagon, it is adapted with two couplings on each side, two of these couplings are normally positioned in the center of the wagon, these are used to couple to locomotives and wide gauge wagons, 1600mm distance between the wheels, which are the two outer rails, and the two couplings that are decentralized on the godmother wagon, are used to couple to narrow gauge wagons and locomotives (1000mm) distance between wheels, represented by the inner rail and the furthest rail from that Indeed, this wagon is constantly on this aid train, and the reason why its existence is necessary is the fact that this section allows the circulation of trains of different gauges, as explained above, RUMO and MRS Logistics use a broad gauge, and VLI logistics uses narrow and wide gauge, therefore, when the train to be helped on the ramp is of wide gauge, it will be coupled to the central couplings of this godmother car, and when they are VLI trains, being narrow gauge, it will be coupled to the couplings that is positioned off-center of this godmother car, or if there is a broad gauge locomotive at the end of the VLI train, then the center coupling will be used. (because the VLI runs with narrow carriages and wide locomotives on the same train). That's it in short.
The godmother wagon is filled with earth to add weight (ballast) to keep it on the tracks, due to the strong pressure it receives, especially in curves.
