my granpa had a woodshop i learned alot and built a cabin..i still learn so much from your videos...especially with tools with no electricity..you are a master ..what a gift to pass on to your grandson

I have played this game before and at first it is quite confusing, but once you get it, you feel proud of figuring it out. Very good for children to learn logic. I love the beautiful wood you use.

I think there's a Hanno Tower in every doctors office. None are handcrafted works of art, but the principal is the same. They say that if you solve the Hanno Tower, the world will come to an end.

The least number of moves to move the discs from one peg to another, without ever placing a larger disc on top of a smaller one is 2^n - 1 (TeX notation), where n is the number of discs. As is demonstrated, 4 discs require 2^4 - 1 = 16 - 1 = 15 moves. See for instance Donald Knuth: Concrete mathematics, ch. 1, for a beautiful demonstration of the reasoning involved.
There are a number of versions of this same puzzle except all that I know of use 3 objects (of decreasing size) instead of 4. In the 3 object version, you cannot put a larger object over a smaller object. I need to test the 4 object version to see if it is possible with the same rules as the 3 object puzzle.
