    I love this. Unlike random starfield videos which can seem a bit pointless and aimless, you feel like you're making a real journey across space and actually going somewhere :)

    Just think even at 2x this video is going faster than lightspeed and look how slow it feels to see everything. Everything in the world deserved to be seen at least once by something or someone.

      A LOT faster than the speed of light. The Milky Way is c. 44,000 light years across. We complete the journey in a matter of 4 hours

    Watch this video at .25 speed, and you’re still moving at 18,517,500,000,000,000 mp/h, or a little over 17 million times faster than the speed of light. The universe is an incomprehensibly huge place.

    This is the speed they should be able to travel regularly in star trek. Imagine all the different realities they would encounter! - This is about 100,000 times faster than warp 9.9!

    • @scubawrestler
      @scubawrestler 3 года назад

      Exactly. This is Warp 9.99995, maximum warp given all known energy sources. Anything more would require more energy than the entire universe has produced since the Big Bang. Here we run into the ultimate "post relativistic" speed limit.

  • @shindinder
    @shindinder 6 лет назад +1

    FYI (the description says this) this is Space Engine, every star will most like will have multiple planets (some will have "life" but they are currently non existent and the planet will have a funky color) that you can go to and land on (if there not a gas giant) and fly around, and it's beautiful. At the time this comment was posted, it is free. Space Engine may have a price tag in the future.

    Far out in the western spiral arm of the Galaxy, there is a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this star at a distance of roughly 93000000 miles Is an utterly insignificant blue-green planet whose ape-descendent lifeforms are so amazingly primitive they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.

    • @njords77
      @njords77 4 года назад

      Yeah but what about the ones that doubled as tiny calculators that were all the rage in the '80's? Was around that time we had more accounts of UFO sightings and activity..LGM started taking notice of us. Coincidence? I think not. The common point of every great space going civilization in the universe can be traced back to the invention of digital wrist watches that were also calculators.

    This isn't realistic. I mean if we were traveling faster than light then all we would see is blackness anyway, because light could never reach us. And traveling any less than the speed of light would take years to pass stars. So these stars supposedly passing at some speed makes this very unrealistic. It should be either blackness, or else it should take years just for them to move positions even slightly.
