The real reason why radios like this get negativity is strictly from the radio snobs. Every hobby has those people. Gun snobs are the same way. I have 3 of these and am ordering two more in some neat colors. I have performed the 5.0 HF mod on one of mine and installed the CEC 0.51hf firmware and absolutely love it! Quite possible the coolest HT ever made. Love your videos Andreas. 73!
I got one about 1 year ago and i was suprised at how good the build quilty was when i took it out the box .I installed the latest egzumer firmware at the time used chirp to program the memory channels .Works a treat
Pros: Awesome value for money. IMHO egzumer is the best first mod to install to bring out the best from the stock radio (massively improves AM Airband reception quality) Broadcast FM receiver is clear, sensitive and excellent quality. Pretty fast channel scanner Dual receive/monitor, even while channel scanning. Transmit audio quality is excellent. Battery lasts for ages in receive/standby and is quite good lasting when transmitting too. Can be easily connected to a mobile car or base antenna External Speaker/Mike is perfect for car use Larger capacity batteries are available. Cons: Stock antenna is tuned to 130Mhz so fine for airband, not so good for VHF/UHF Ham. Touted 5w transmit is more like 3.5 to 4w on the selected frequency whilst on battery (power is lost in harmonics) Transmit is 'dirty' with harmonics on other frequencies out of band operation is possible and worse for this problem (why a lot of purists slam it) Receive is sensitive (which is good in quiet areas) but suffers from poor adjacent frequency rejection (bleedover) - even a radio controlled temperature transponder (433Mhz) will wipe out the reception - this is fine if you are 1/2 mile or more from any other radio user. One of the best quirks of this screen is that is fully visible under direct sunlight!!
This is the exact reason I do not want a more expensive radio with colour display !
Yes perfect

You´re right, mine is yellow and has CEC0.51 and the v5.0 hard mod and it´s bulletproof, it works even when it is not supposed to do so!!
Thanks loads and agree .
