Those flat eq boosts/cuts are very reminiscent of the Eiosis AirEQ. I’m not keen about them not adding the harmonics to the analog curves as some of those models are very harmonic dependent for their trademark sound. It still looks killer. The dynamic controls look like what ProQ 3 should’ve been.
Whatever works. It's a nice EQ. It solves problems for sure but I wouldn't say it kills ProQ. More like...it adds things that ProQ3 doesn't have. It gives you surgical options. ProQ3 is for quick sculpting. I would say, use ProQ3 first then Kirchoff after of you think you need it. Also, it has an envelope following compressor. ProQ3 doesn't do that. That's one of the biggest features Kirchoff had that you do not cover.
I have a dedicated tablet app for managing my plugins. It's called Metagrid and it speeds a lot of stuff in the studio. Check it out at Metasystem.io, I'm doing a series of tutorial vids for them!
I didn't mention it, true. The reason is that the CPU usage of Kirchhoff was never an issue for me. I've had a project with 100+ instances of it and everything ran smoothly.
When I compared the CPU usage in Reaper this plugin sucked a little more CPU than ProQ3. ProQ sucks very little CPU and this one was twice as much, but twice as much of very little is not much. I did notice that when you edit the frequency there was a spike in this plugin while ProQ did not spike even when editing the frequency..
Kirchhoff EQ is very nice but ProQ3's dynamics are something we dont see. Lot of DynamicEQ's have the threshold,Attack,Rel,Ratio which is great but ProQ's implementation is different. It is not level dependent and automatically sets the threshold to just catch the peaks, regardless of input level. The benefit it this will not effect the Macro dynamics of a track. You would have to automate Kirchhoff threshold to do the same. Both approaches are useful and there's room for both styles
Let's discuss: what do you think about Kirchhoff EQ? Have you tried it already? Did it make you quit any another EQ?

As usual you are the man to rely on when reviewing stuff!
Thank you, Eirik, at your service as always!
Thanks. I really like your content. Pro Q3 and Uvi Shade are enough for me. I mostly use Live's stock eq8 anyways.
They are totally great, too. I'm really looking forward to what FabFilter does in Pro-Q4 now :)
Agreed….this is EQ is a killer and definitely worthy of looking into it…thanks
Thanks, man!
Split EQ? Can solve anything I'm pretty sure as well.
Eiosis Air EQ has the similar curves contriol.
Very cool that we have so many choices.
Cheers.

How did you select and open Kirchoff so fast after clicking the insert slot?

Thanks for the video!! did you compare the cpu usage? is it similar to proq3?

@@FoliaSound Thanks - so it is quite similar light usage as q3 is! great!

whats the deal with the floor shot...
Nothing, I'm simply experimenting with my covers sometimes ;)

360p seems/looks a bit outdated, especially on a 4K monitor :/
It was ONLY the premiere. Reload the vid and enjoy full HD, sir!
Plus the next premiere will be screened in full HD, I'll remember abou that :)
These eqs take too much CPU. I use iz neutron 2 eq
and it gets the job done.
Kirchhoff is extremely light on CPU, seriously!
Why do you want to kill Pro-Q 3? If you don't like the plugin, simply don't use the plugin and move on!
That's what I did :) I killed Pro-Q3 in my working environment and moved on in Kirchhoff!
Looks like a total rippoff of Q3. Not a killer at all. Thanks for video anyway.
