    The only thing I worry about with additional cards getting transfer partners is that eventually all of these airlines are going to catch on and devalue their points.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  11 месяцев назад +14

      Devaluations are inevitable in most airline & hotel programs, though they almost never happen at the same time. That's why it's good to have a variety of partners to choose from. Also why it's nice to have a points with a guaranteed flat-rate value through a portal (for WF, it's 1 point = 1¢).

    5x on hotels and 4x on airlines without using a travel portal is CRAZY!! Along with an easy to use $50 credit. Chase needs to update their CSP $50 credit to be used with any travel (like the CSR) now! I'll love to see how chase responds! I would love to see trip delay protection too
    What's even crazier is the only overlap with the autograph card is the dining and transit (given you can use the "other travel" as transit) I look forward to applying to this card when I have $4k in spending planned!

    As someone who is planning to get the Active Cash as a catch-all Apple Card replacement and the Wells Fargo Autograph for the gas, transit, streaming, and phone plans aspect, would this card in your opinion be better than Bilt even considering the Rent cashback benefits?
    Because before this, Bilt (use currently for rent, restaurants, Lyft) was going to be that main travel card but now…

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  11 месяцев назад +2

      The Bilt Mastercard currently has a more compelling program for travel redemptions.
      For cash back, however, the WF-branded cards are significantly better than Bilt.

    • @yurig2530
      @yurig2530 11 месяцев назад

      Bilt is only 2x for travel and 3x for Lyft. You can do better with other cards, such as any Chase card for Lyft is 5x and CSR is 10x. You can add 2x from Bilt on Lyft without a card. For restaurants there are currently cards which give 5x, such as Citi Prestige and Custom Cash.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  11 месяцев назад +3

      As I understand it so far, it's 5X Hotels (unlimited) when booked directly with the hotel website ... if you use a 3rd-party site, I think it would fall under "Other Travel" and earn 3X. I can't guarantee this yet as I don't have full details pre card launch.
      If you're referring to the Navy Federal Visa Signature Flagship Travel Rewards Credit Card, that card earns 3X on "Travel," which is a much broader category than "Hotels."

    Great video Mark. I don’t think this kills the Platinum because Amex has a loyal following. What this does do is bring Wells Fargo to the table as another option for consumers, which is great.
    Typically you either have a majority of people going with the Platinum, Venture X, or going with the Sapphire Reserve.
    Amex is said to be revamping 40 products this year, obviously that means products in other markets as well. I really wish they would fix the earning on the Platinum. You essentially have to carry more cards around to maximize earning on your vacation and it would be nice if you could just carry 2.
    Actually if you carry the gold and green card around on vacation that would cover most categories but at that point you you’re looking at $1095 in annual fees.
    As Wells Fargo rolls out their phases, we’ll see how the Wells Fargo lineup matches up to Amex, Cap One, and Chase. Not to mention the experiences people have with using the new cards.

    • @MarkReese

I’m just about a week away from getting my AMEX Platinum statement which will have my AF on it and while I’m 100% sure that I’ll keep it for another year it’s looking less and less likely that I’ll keep it next year. I got the Venture X at the end of January and I’m waiting a minimum of 6 months before I apply for the Savor One to complete the Capital One duo, I already have a Chase quadfecta as well so it’s feeling like it’s time to do away with a setup and while I love AMEX it’s looking like their are much cheaper options that fit my lifestyle even better. I saw that. @@theholt2ic219 you would think that Wells Fargo would be heavily promoting the locations.hmmmm

    Yeah, because all those airport Wells Fargo Autograph Lounges are so amazing.
    This video had so much potential to be really fair and balanced except you completely ignored the best value coming from the AMEX Platinum which is access to all American Express Centurion airport lounges plus Priority Pass domestically and internationally. Also does this Autograph journey card automatically get me to Gold Status for both Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors? I’m guess also no because it wasn’t mentioned. Makes me wonder if Wells Fargo compensated you for this video to make it so unbalanced.

    Can you book thru Expedia, Orbitz etc?

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, but it's my understanding that those bookings will earn 3X points for the 'Other Travel' category. Per the terms that category includes "purchases made at retailers whose merchant category code is classified as: timeshare, or vehicle/auto rental, cruise lines, travel agencies, discount travel sites, campgrounds."

      Ty for the quick response, that answered my question. I have the WF Autograph and trying to decide if upgrading to the Journey is worth it for me 😊
