The logging practices in British Columbia's old-growth forests are concerning. The indiscriminate cutting of these ancient trees not only jeopardizes these unique ecosystems but also threatens the delicate balance of nature. Instead of responsibly managing these invaluable natural resources, the current practices risk irreversibly damaging these forests, disrupting habitats, and erasing centuries-old ecosystems that cannot be easily restored.
The reckless logging of British Columbia's old-growth forests boils down to pure greed. These invaluable ecosystems, rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage, are being decimated for short-term profits. The logging industry in British Columbia doesn't need to rely on old-growth forests to maintain sustainability. There's an abundance of younger, regrowable trees that can meet timber demands without compromising ancient forests. Sustainable forestry practices can prioritize harvesting from younger forests, allowing old-growth areas to thrive undisturbed. With careful planning and management, it's entirely possible to meet industry needs while preserving these invaluable old-growth ecosystems for future generations.

You’ve clearly never flown in a small plane across the west coast of BC. There are many places where as far as you can see it’s all old growth, untouched. You gotta get out of the city. Also, BC has the best and strictest logging practices in the world. Don’t confuse what the old timers did decades ago with modern logging methods of today. We’re also now logging at a tiny fraction of the volume that we were doing just 20 years ago, let alone 50 years ago. Which by the way is the age by what all the second that currently being harvested.
