Thank you and Yes. I did an overall major cleanup and added a protective coating (based on your video) on all the canvas, vinyl and soft materials. Also have been wire brushing, priming and painting the frame. Wheel bearings have also been replaced. Over the winter I need to refinish the entire top (Paint I have not locked down which product I will go with) which has signs of delaminating and has lots of rubber cement type of sealent on it. Propane heater and AC works. Refrig does not so I am on the fence if i will replace or convert into storage.
Brand new to the pop up camper world, and I gotta say how much appreciate your channel! With not knowing much about campers, your channel has become our camping bible. Keep up the good work I am sure there are plenty others like me out there. One recommendation if I may, videos are very detailed and lengthy (not a bad thing), time stamps would really help especially when referencing back to a video for something. Appreciate you
So glad you guys took the time to make this video. We just bought a pop-up camper and it’s a 2000. Interior is very nice and excellent condition but don’t like the wood grain so your video really helped me decide what colors to pick and how to prepare. Really appreciate the help.
I love your guys videos! Honest question though….isnt the stuff on your cabinets a decorative sticker? Did it really do much sanding it before painting?
What type of flooring are you planning to use? If it's sheet vinyl, you'd be ok taking out the cabinets and doing wall to wall flooring, but if you are planning to install any type of floating floor (such as a click-together vinyl plank like ours) you don't want to do wall to wall flooring with that, as the floor needs space to expand and contract, which it won't have if you affix cabinets on top of it.
@@ItsPoppin I was planning on click together vinyl. That is a good point about needing to allow the flooring to float. It saves on cost as well since I won't need to purchase as much martial, but will mean a lot more cuts. Did you use any molding?
Really love the blue cabinets and warm grey walls. Bought ours with the cabinets already painted white but thinking about redoing so your tips were great.
Just bought a 2001 Starcraft Gemini and ready to start some renovation. The manual we received is a xeroxed copy and VERY difficult to read so I'm needing help with the basics, like, how to test for leaks before we hook up the water? How to use the fold-up indoor potty / shower? And more
We just bought an 87 StarCraft meteor. Floors, toe boards are pretty rotted so we won't be using it as planned. But we have started tearing down the interior.
Nice! I just started my Starcraft Nova Reno this weekend...starting with re-sealing the roof. Ran into a hurdle...have to replace the entire front board of the roof, as it is totally rotted out. 🙁. Keep up the vids...it gives me some motivation! Mahalo! 🤙
You could try an epoxy finish on the countertop if you want something super rugged. Very easy to apply. Basically mix and pour. It's self leveling, so you get a nice thick layer.
New owner of a 2003 Palomino Colt. Thank you both for all of the instructional videos they have been extremely helpful. I am looking for some direction on purchasing fitted bed sheet coverings for the ( 2) 3" x 40 x 80 bunk end mattresses. I have scoured the internet and been unsuccessful in finding anything close to the required size. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance. Let's keep poppin! Jim
Ok, I am fixing to do this, my question is the doors are laminate and one is starting to come loose on the edge, should I just pull it off all together and sand it then paint? Thanks
You may have addressed this in the video & I missed it but is there a reason behind using oil based paint? We're remodeling a PUP. i have water based kilz & paint on hand. Just wondering if i need to buy different paint. Love your videos.
That was based on our research from a few years ago, so I don't remember the exact reason. I think it may adhere better or be more durable. I would just research the efficacy of water-based on cabinets before you use it.
@@ItsPoppin thanks so much. Camper looks great. I'm caught up on your reno but came back to this bc we're painting. You do a really good job with the tutorials.
Is it not a good idea to paint the plywood bench tops? I'd sort of like to paint mine, but I read that you shouldn't paint the plywood on the bunk ends so that it can breathe and fluctuate with temperature. Is that the same for the plywood on the bench tops?
It's Poppin' - Pop Up Camping yeah. Sorry. I was at Lowe’s looking at the urethane and watching my daughter run around. So yes. For the counter tops and did it leave a yellowish hue? Thanks.
We used the minwax one coat poly. It doesn't say if its water or oil based - even though I thought it did. The countertops did darken under the poly, but being a canvas color its hard to say if they yellowed. The poly says it won't yellow so it may have just been the paint darkening.
Any reason you decided to do a water-base over the oil-based primer? I'm was going to do an OB paint over OB primer but you have me second guessing myself.
Before you start renovating the interior, make sure the exterior is good to go! ruclips.net/video/jj6LuLZpv9o/видео.html

These two are so talented
Iam just getting a pop up… you guys are very informative. Great ideas you both shared thank you… big fan… keep it piping😉
The ideas are awesome I tried to listen very well to the ideals that you all have thank you
Love it!!

Everything looks great so far. I'm deliberating taking out the cabinets and spraying them and install flooring wall to wall.

Yeah, we’ve used 1/2” quarter-round in the past and are going to use that again on the Reno.
Really like the color choices as well as the flooring, cushions, and curtains choices.
Thank you!
Loving this channel man. Im finishing up a full renovation on a 98 Coleman and your videos have been great for motivation.
Awesome! We are glad to hear!
Great job

2024 here how did it come out when all finished ?
U guys really did a nice job!....I subbed and thank U for the tips and advice :)
How well does the paint hold up on the cabinets and walls? I am about to get a 2012 rockwood premier 2516G from my dad and plan on updating it.

Let us know how it goes. This is something we've never had to tackle before.

Love the colors
Looks great! I really like the colors you picked. Looked like a long process, but well worth the hard work and time.
Thanks!

We just put on regular sheets. If it's an RV king, we just put on regular king size sheets and tuck the rest under - nothing fancy.
For the primer, would you recommend exterior primer if the pop up is not stored in a heated building while in storage for the winter?
No, interior is just fine.
Ok, I am fixing to do this, my question is the doors are laminate and one is starting to come loose on the edge, should I just pull it off all together and sand it then paint? Thanks
Are. your cabinets mostly wood? We have an older camper and I would like to repaint our cabinets and seating area, but I think they are metal.
i may have missed it but did you use interior or exterior paint? thank you!
Interior
So you can use normal paint to paint the canvas ?
What grit sandpaper should we use When sanding down the cabinets?
220 or 320
@@ItsPoppin Thank you very much!
Did you just paint over the veneer covering?
Yes
Did the printer adhere to the contact paper on the cabinets well? No flaking?
Primer ***
We can’t speak to this camper as we sold it; however, we utilized the same method in the Starcraft and it’s held up exceptionally well.
I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel. Another great video thank you. Can you tell me what the name of the color you painted your cabinets?
Yes, of course. Its called symmetry and its a Glidden color from home depot.
It's Poppin' - Pop Up Camping thank you.

Are u working on multiple pop ups at the same time? There always seems to be one in the garage behind u....or while ur outside with a diff one
We are working on the palomino in this series. The starcraft is our current, ready to go camping, pop up that we've been camping in.

You'll be fine painting bench tops.
Did you have any trouble with the finish being different on the different types of wood on the walls, dinette, etc?
No, not at all.
What type of polyurethane did you use? Water based or oil modified?
Thanks.
For the countertops?

Did some internet searching and it’s water-based.
What color exactly is the blue ?
Symmetry by Glidden

No, the primer is what’s important. I wouldn’t sweat the top coat.
I love the steal blue but not the wall color . Maybe in the video there's not good lighting .
Man, I wish your videos would go more into the point, instead of so much talking and beating around the bush
