For some brilliant players the national team just doesn't click, every time I think about it I find it quite remarkable he only played for Italy at USA 94 and Euro 96 when he could've been certainty in the national team from about 88-2000.

So he paid the excesive faith in a team with a lot of changes. Bejbl scored the 2-1 close to 25 minutes of the match and Italy wasn't able not even to put 2-2, a lot less to win. So, it was IN SECOND MATCH AGAINST CZECH REPUBLIC when Italy lost all her chance. Nor Sacchi neither nobody (included the own czechs...) could think that Czech Republic would be able to play the great final. But Sacchi made a ununforgettable mistake doing tests in second match. An error of beginner. You must wait for to do tests till you have got the qualifycation to the round of 16

However it is as truly than that World Cup was prepared that England had in 1966 a fantastic team lead between others by Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore. Sacchi really messed it up, didn't he ? Throughout his time in charge of italy, he didn't call up some very good players.

Without Baggio, Italy was weak. Zola was a big disappointment in the national team.
