She says the first part is a tribute to her grandfather fighting in a battle that he could never speak about. The second part is about the doctors and nurses and first responders seeing what covid is doing now. It has the same impact. People don’t understand that. The trauma there is real.
This song is one the best ever written about people who have gone through something they will never be abld to discuss with people who weren't there. The way she connects her grandfather's experience with medical professionals during Covid is just sheer genius....
This song is a nod to first responders. Starts w her grandfather, then w Covid 19 patients. Ends w the 20 mins of rest they get between the next patient. Excellent song for these times
This is the first reaction I’ve seen where epiphany gets the appreciation It deserves . This song is stunning and you’ve definitely just got a new subscriber.
My grandfather was also at Guadalcanal. And Iwo Jima and Okinawa and Midway. Everlasting thanks to all who fought. The lucky ones came back. The others, like my Uncle Charlie, died on Omaha Beach in the first wave.
This song is really about PTSD.... There are things that combat vets and medical professionals have seen that they can't talk about with anyone who wasn't there....
As an RN who worked thru the worst of Covid, many of us worked 16 hour shifts almost every day then went home and tried to get 4 hours sleep. Having 4-6 of your patients die in a week. Once they had to go on a ventilator you knew they most likely wouldn’t survive. It was horrible and traumatic.
finally, a person who understands the vivid imagery of a slow motion cinematic of a war, struggle, surviving moments, dont know how to be able to come home of which depicted in this song. the melody that taylor shout the word riffle, kinda like imitating how a soldier give a straight forward answer (like, yes sir!). thanks for the reaction
@@nathanlongwell if you have time to listen to this kind of theme in music, there's a song from Vanessa Carlton titled The Marching Line. It has same thematic with Epiphany.
I've seen others reacting to this song and i was disappointed to say the least hahah very few, if not only you, actually understood the crushing meaning of those lyrics and felt how special it is, not just some track to skip. That is really satisfying to watch! +1 subs
This song is so important. And the men she talks about still don't talk about their experiences in the war. Healthcare workers dealt with the sick and dying then had to deal with the morons who thought it wasn't real.

Thank you so much!!
When she said " Somones daughter , Somones Mother"
That was Very relatable
( For my Mom)
The heartbeat tone at the end is so powerful
It's like both, heartbeats and bomb blasts
It’s supposed to be an ekg machine
The first part is her grandfather, Dean who was at battle of Guadalcanal. He barely made it alive.
Thank you Lani. Absolutely love the history.

The lyrics are so powerful and deep. This is why I love this song the most. I always get emotional listening to it, and it takes me to another time
Epiphany is like words sending by God through an Angel voice of Taylor Swift. Btw, you have a warm and sweet voice, Nathan.
Your immediate and accurate interpretation made this one of the most satisfying reaction videos I’ve seen. Lol.
