In my case, my new hobby I picked up the art of Coffee Brewing. Shifting from Instant Coffee to Coffee Beans and the whole process, it was really intriguing, plus my love for coffee was about at an all time high so I was invested in the idea. The thing with this hobby though, is that any amount of money you throw at it is not enough. The Minimum I could get was like two dollars for the equipment and maybe 4-5 dollars for the coffee. In that still, you should get beans and then have a grinder for those beans at home, but the grinder is like 50+ dollars, so other option is pre-ground coffee.
I got a MokaPot, which was a little more expensive (about 15 dollars) and 5 dollars worth of pre-ground coffee and by god I’m glad I didn’t go for more expensive equipment. Cause after 3-4 uses, it now sits in the closet, collecting dust. The problem is not the coffee tasting bad or anything, on the contrary, the coffee tastes absolutely delicious. The issues I found out were:
    1) The process to make the coffee required like 10-ish minutes of full dedication for a cup of coffee which before this, I just would put a sachet of instant coffee close to boil and voila, have my coffee. Now this was a whole meditation in itself to brew a cup of coffee.
    2) I realised that even though I got like 1/2 kg of coffee, it still was getting pretty quickly consumed and that made me realise that this hobby is a pretty expensive hobby in and of itself. The expensive part is not only the equipment, but getting the coffee every month which was much costlier as compared to the regular coffee.
    3) The cleanup was so much more messier, since the parts are delicate, handling with care was necessary, unlike before where I would just quickly scrub a vessel.
In this hobby, again after losing that initial peak of interest, I found that getting a FrenchPress or an AeroPress is also a better option (again throwing more money at it to get interest back). I didn’t do it of course, but in Initial brewing journey, it is true that MokaPot is very harsh on young and new users. French Press is very forgiving, you can fuk up most of the recipe and still get a great cup of coffee with a French Press but not with MokaPot.
Anyway after that long rant, this video made it into concepts which I felt beforehand. I now better understand where to invest in a hobby, and where not to.
Also I found your channel by the “Cheapest Way to Own an iPhone” video so you have gotten a sub in me. Great quality videos, keep them coming. Cheers🎉

I really dislike hobby subreddits that recommend the best and greatest gear and discourage being "cheap", I want to pursue this potential hobby because I may love doing it not because of the sunk cost fallacy.
