That's why i'm not optimistic. I bought 15 on launch and i got gypped. Party members disappearing and getting their revelations/character arcs done off screen. Stories fleshed out in DLC and then a level (and cutscenes) added to an "upgraded" version.
Fun Fact: Devil May Cry 5's combat director left to work at SE for a new project. Its implied, if not outright confirmed with the gameplay that this is it.
I Platinum Final Fantasy 15. I played Final Fantasy 10 probably 20 times through. I Platinum all the Devil May Cry games. And I can genuinely say that I do not want these two games to merge together. I play Final Fantasy when I want to lose myself in a breathtaking world and Hammer the x button for attack in turn-based combat. I play Devil May Cry when I want a short sweet narrative with lots of action and combo eccentric fights. They do NOT need to be together. Lol
I didn't know this. This actually game me some reassurance because the combat in 15 is one of the things that I hated. It does look like DMC style combat even though it's a little janky, hopefully that's just a product of a early development gameplay reveal and there's more polish later on.

Real. This game was everything I wanted in a video game. When playing FF as a kid and seeing those summons, I always wanted to fight them at this scale; and 16 gave us that.

This is what I love about Final Fantasy. Unless its specifically stated to be a sequel (X-2, FF7 Compilation) every numbered entry in the series is its own thing with a different setting, world, characters and theme. They're not bound or limited by the events of any of the others. Now any true Final Fantasy fan will know that there's almost always a few things in common (Chocobos, summons, some guy named Cid) but even then they usually find ways of making those things unique as well
That is what makes Final Fantasy a Final Fantasy: It isn't the battle system, not the graphics, not even the settings... it's the lore, the names, creatures, and more importantly: Chocobos (and don't forget the crystals).

Honestly I'm extremely happy they're going back to a more fantasy and magic style for FF. I do like the "futuristic and magic" style they've been going with for the past few years but this is a breath of fresh air
That ending part with the "follow your destiny" lyrics sends chills up my spine. It sounds beautiful. I come back to this trailer often just to listen to that part.
Revisiting this after the demo dropped. 99.9% of this trailer was in the freaking DEMO. We are in for a special experience. Edit: just beat the game. It was indeed a special experience. I love this game so much

I think, with todays graphic potential, and the fact, that the characters in FF VIIR looked better in game than in the pre rendered CGI scenes, there is no need anymore to prepare these CGI trailers
In a No Clip documentary about Final Fantasy XIV. The interviewer asked Yoshi P what kind of Final Fantasy game he would make and it would be something like this. No mecha and back to High Fantasy as Mecha has been a thing for FF games for a while. Nice to see a director who really likes to change things up.

The way the voiceover comes in as the music plays gets me so hyped,and the phrase about the crystals feels like it speaks to fans who played the games and have dealt with the crystal elements of each series I come watch the trailer from time to time to remember that feeling of excitement

Me too. It looks a bit to plain, too little character to the characters, and very FF14 medieval. It looks a bit cheap, like typical rendering weaknesses of generic open world with repeating textures and weak ambient occlusion etc.
Same thoughts here. It honestly also feels like a hodge podge of DMC, FFXV, and Dark souls with a FFXIV setting. I really miss FF titles that were turned based like X.
Maybe it will be released for the potential Leviathan DLC that has been tease tons of times in the game even by Joshua (called Leviathan "the Lost"). Even the map reference it with the giant hole in the ocean.

One of the rumors is that this took some inspiration from Heavenward and I can see it, the knights, the peasants, and the dragoon are all similar. The music is similar to Warrior of Light theme from FFXIV mixed with Heavenward theme (the dragoon fight is probably a nod to Noctis vs Arenea fight)
There just happens to be a trend of beating up Dragoons as the main character (see: Kain) Though absolutely! The writer of Heavensward is writing for this, Yoshida stuff (he's one of two directors) and the music is done by Soken Also a side note to the DMC5 combat director, Hideaki Itsuno, is most likely the person doing it (he quit to work at SE a year or two back on a 'secret project') and the combat sure seems to carry it
nah, the producer for this is Yoshi P - he runs FFXIV, and the only delay they've ever had with production since he took over in 2013 was last year with coronavirus. This'll be out like clockwork.

It's really cool how Final Fantasy games evolved from "restore the light of the crystals to save the world" to "the world is at war because of the crystals", hopefully some FF game in the future will be set on a distopic setting where everything has gone downhill because someone destroyed the crystals and they must be restored again, thus coming full circle!
Over two years after the announcement and this trailer still gives me chills, as a long time veteran player whoes been playing since final fantasy 4 (SNES) I have a strong feeling we are in for a real treat with this new entry, it looks like we could be getting the best final fantasy in a very long time

It’s so interesting watching this trailer and how far back the development period was compared to final release. This game still has 2.5 years left in development time and they made sure to use ALL of it with the highest level of efficiency
hey at least the process from what is known is going forward with passion and they dont wanna show off stuff that isnt "show off-ish" enough to create artifical hype. Yoshi-p and his team knows what they do here. In fact, the game could be dropping at the end of this year already if the current world state isn't slowing it down too much.

2:50 I still can't believe this isn't in the game. I fully expected it to be some important leitmotif or feature in the final battle. I think this was a missed opportunity, as the final battle track borrows too much from Find the Flame IMO.
I found the last decade trailers much more memorable - during XIII and versus days. FFXIII international trailer was GOAT. Versus XIII extended trailer with Stella and 2008 reveal was also great.

Me too. It looks a bit to plain, too little character to the characters, and very FF14 medieval. It looks a bit cheap, like typical rendering weaknesses of generic open world with repeating textures and weak ambient occlusion etc.

One of the rumors is that this took some inspiration from Heavenward and I can see it, the knights, the peasants, and the dragoon are all similar. The music is similar to Warrior of Light theme from FFXIV mixed with Heavenward theme (the dragoon fight is probably a nod to Noctis vs Arenea fight)

Also a side note to the DMC5 combat director, Hideaki Itsuno, is most likely the person doing it (he quit to work at SE a year or two back on a 'secret project') and the combat sure seems to carry it

It's really cool how Final Fantasy games evolved from "restore the light of the crystals to save the world" to "the world is at war because of the crystals", hopefully some FF game in the future will be set on a distopic setting where everything has gone downhill because someone destroyed the crystals and they must be restored again, thus coming full circle!

It’s so interesting watching this trailer and how far back the development period was compared to final release. This game still has 2.5 years left in development time and they made sure to use ALL of it with the highest level of efficiency

@@mythgravenn they haven't confirmed the composer for FFXVI. People heavily suspect that this track was indeed made by Soken, but it's also likely that a whole group of composers is working on this. FFVII Remake had quite a few composers.

I still can't believe this isn't in the game. I fully expected it to be some important leitmotif or feature in the final battle. I think this was a missed opportunity, as the final battle track borrows too much from Find the Flame IMO.
