I would love to be pinned on the video about one of my favorite youtubers talking about one of my favorite shows But what are the chances of that happening?
They make fun of there cursed anatomy in the show. When the headmaster takes ever starscream he asks how he turned over with wings, and rachet makes fun of bulkheads lack of normal hands.
I'm still astonished the toy designers managed really good toys that stayed faithful to the art style, given how accentuated and irregular they could be. Definite props to the engineers. Still, I find it rides razor's edge of stylized for me without leaping into the abyss of anatomical horror that was Beast Machines.
Yeah it's pretty much insane that they turned these things into physical objects that we can actually hold in our hands I would have thought that was impossible. .
@@PerspectiveEnd Considering how they look, you’d think Hasbro would remake the Animated characters in Legacy with ease. But no, they needed G1-IFICATION.
One weird thing I find in Animated is that the very angular proportions of some characters can make it look like they have chicken legs, or ones that look very close to chicken legs. It's weird cause I thought only the movies could pull off that look.
As someone who is a big fan of tfa character design and artstyle I had a lot of fun watching this video. For me the stylization of the show is amazing, but there are many cases of it going a tad too far, especially with more masculine and feminie designs. But while the executions may vary, I think tfa's way of dealing with kibble is quite commendable. Considering that instead of ignoring or removing it from character designs (leading to worse toys), the kibble was not only acknowledged, but also integrated to create a cohesive whole.
I'm glad that I didn't put you off with this one. A lot of these roasts I do get people kind of mad, they just can't get behind laughing at something they enjoy.
I enjoyed how you kept mentioning that the TF: Animated characters look like they are wearing spandex, since the show was originally going to be called Transformers Heroes, due to the art style making the Autobots look like comic book superheroes and the Decepticons look like comic book villains. :D
It kinda looks like the artists were going for stylised superhero/villain designs, after all, the main cast of Autobots were presented like the new superheroes of Detroit in season 1.
Derrick J Wyatt was the guy who designed the Original Teen Titans show for carton network, but in an actual super hero show his style was more reserved.
1:20 I like to think of this as the final joke that makes up the clown that is Animated Sentinel. He is constantly trying to be number 1, but he always plays second fiddle to Optimus, Magnus and even the Crimson Chin. He can never win And isn't is ironic the only character who has nothing limiting his vision has terrible depth perception? I love animated, but the designs are hilarious when you think about them for 5 seconds
We see with bulkhead and Rachet there arms become the backs of the vehicle, but they are a swat van and an abundance, it’s meant to be hallow. Where does the mass go
And according to the creators of the show (rest in peace, Derrick J. Wyatt), Primus doesn't exist (I'll assume that Unicron doesn't, either) in the Animated Universe/Malgus cluster.
Galactic Man is first toy of Shockwave, before he was bought by Hasbro for G1 And his colors were black and grey Just like Animated Shockwave as a spy when he was Longarm
Do you really think I went to all the effort of making a parody song, and I didn't know what I was saying. Why would I change it from Starman to Galactic man if I didn't.
I’m glad you took the moment to talk about Animated because I would like to use it to say that Decepticon Lugnut is hands down my favorite Transformers character, and I wish we got to see more of him outside of Animated.
@@PerspectiveEnd That version is super good and I’m lucky to have that figure, but I mean actually animated, being a character of a story with proper voice acting and such. In Animated he had all the proper attributes and had amazing voice acting, rivaled only by Animated Megatron’s and Starscream’s. Blitzwing’s was pretty good too but we got much more Blitzwing than Lugnut. I dearly hope he makes an appearance in a future installment and is given the same badass treatment, I mean come on, he easily beat Bulkhead one on one.
I don’t think they need big areas for brains since they probably have computer chips in there which are pretty small, and I think the blocking vision thing might be intentional or at least not really an issue since they can transform individual parts of there body’s to ajust there vision, like how bulkhead can extend his neck, and turn his back kibble into a chair
I mean computer chips can be small, but like My computer is like 8 times the size of my head, and like 20 times the size of my brain, and my brain is still able to retain more information.
Fun fact: Sentinel's design in this show was based off a super hero named "the tick" which is neither dc or marvel And the voice of sentinel in this show is actually voiced by townsend coleman. The guy who voices the tick in the animated show
Sentinel Prime looks like Judge Dredd. Also, every single detail you mention about this series’ design philosophy is why *this* is the one TF series called “Animated.” Seriously, if you lined up the character sheets for every series, starting with Sunbow right on down through RoosterTeeth and today, TFA would definitely stand out as the one series to earn the moniker of Animated. I’m pretty confident that a “family feud” style survey of normies would produce the same result like 85/100.
I don't feel the same way. I don't think this looks particularly Animated, it looks way more Vintage comic to me. Apparently the working title for it was Transformers Hero's and I like that one SOOOOO much better it fits it perfectly.
@@PerspectiveEnd The working title alone sounds AMAZING, if only because it invokes the idea of Superheroes vs Supervillains. Some Autobots/Decepticons are established to have special powers, so why not go all the way y'know??

I loved what they did with swindle in animated. They nailed the shady black market dealer and the voice matched him perfectly and design wise he does look normal ish besides the long arms. the toy from the looks also is good but has clear plastic in important areas which can ruin it long term.
My favorite version of Transformers is TFA, but this was great. I didn’t realize how much these characters look like humans with some metallic armor/kibble until I started sketching out the characters for practice.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The show was really fun, and very well written. I still think Beast Wars is the Peak of writing for TF shows, but I think Animated is a good second best.
I think they were trying to be as detached from the movies as possible, the movie designs look like the car parts rebuilt in a robot shape, these look like human like robots disguising as robots, they are brightly colored, everyone in the movies is dark and grayish, the batverse designs don’t have a lot of expressive capabilities, these emphasize it wherever they can
Possibly. It could also just be the whole spy thing trying to fool the audience, but I did think it was possible so that's what made me think of the Galactic man reference.
6:10-6:25 There actually is a version of Shockwave called “Galactic Man” in a way. It’s a gray repaint of the siege leader shockwave that has the words “Galactic Man” on his chest. Just thought I might let you know
@@PerspectiveEnd not really, if it was an accident than that would be hilarious. I also thought it be a reference to something I don't understand because I'm young
I love animated, and this video had me rolling the entire time. I don't know why they made the design choices they did, because clearly the designers were smoking something that made them commit to these designs. Someone probably spent a weekend watching super hero cartoons while on the production committee while high as a kite and showed up to work with an idea in their head.
5:27 actually I never saw any words that labeled him as sound wave, what gave it away for me is the speakers on his shoulders and behind his head. That’s how I knew this was sound wave
Wow, I didn't know you had a degree in animation, that's pretty cool. I personally loved animated, I know some people don't care for the character designs, but it never really bothered me. I only wish we got season 4 because it was supposed to have a Shattered Glass episode, and I really want to see the Shattered Glass universe in animation
CGI Animation specifically, but they do teach you the Fundamentals of traditional. I wish we got season 4 as well, there were so many plot threads left hanging.
You say he doesn’t resemble soundwave, but if I showed you the design and told you it was an existing character, I’m 70% sure you would guess soudnwave
Animated Soundwave is my favorite design for him. The only things I would change is making his faceplate silver and give him his shoulder cannon. Otherwise, he's beautiful. I love the blue, the glowing tron lines, his voice, absolute perfection. The only thing I don't like about him is his origin.
Why do you like that design so much? Also I just can't sand the shape of his head. He's got a GIANT lower face and the worlds smallest brain compartment.
@@PerspectiveEnd Cuz he's got the drip lol. But honestly it's mostly nostalgia, not for the show but for the toy. Animated and Rotf Soundwave were the first versions of him that I owned as a kid (and still do). Being able to have him posed shredding on Laserbeak is, pardon the pun, metal af. If they gave TFA Soundwave the legacy Bulkhead treatment I'd buy that shit immediately. Hell, if they just did a Gen selects siege Soundwave in his colors I'd get it.
WOW!! I ain't even expect you to go THAT deep on'em. Sucks that you missed Bumblebee & Jazz, though, those were the main two I was lookin' forward to you rippin' into.
Bumblebee, is honestly one of the best Designs in the show, and I almost did Jazz but I realized I didn't have much more to say other than he's just Very Human looking.
Gotta say it's funny how the charcter who's meant to have the biggest chin, doesn't have the biggest chin. And I've never seen that more G1 animated prowl design it looks way better than the one they went with or more recognizable.
Why does megatron keep getting sucky hands. In beast wars (I know he’s technically a separate character) he has a tail for one hand and a dinosaur head for the other, he has claws in the movies, and In this show he has astrotrans arm cuff things so he can only move his hands one way
CGI Animation, but they teach you the fundamentals of Hand Drawn, and then there are the traversable skills, like frame rates, shot comp, lighting. All that kind of stuff.
In animated, or just in General? In animated it'd probably be Megatron, Followed by Blitzwing, Followed by Shockwave. In general, it's probably Soundwave?
0:30 I’m assuming that judgement also goes with other shows with the same art style, such as the og teen titans (Really, how ignorant are go’s writers?) and Ben 10 omniverse?
Well I've never actually watched Omniverse, And honestly not quite. Ben 10 didn't have bad proportions at least not in the original serries. And the Original Teen Titans show looked fine. For one it was much better animated, but Derrick J Wyatt turned in I think much better work for that show. The proportions weren't as wonked out, it was just stylized enough.
Fun fact. Wyatt actually didn't like the concept of Primus and explicitly omitted him from the timeline. This was explained in universe by an "Ask Vector Prime" To quote TFWiki: "The entire cluster is affected by a higher-than-normal interference wave range of 8.7 generated by the non-linear WY-att pulse function, effectively barring multiversal singularities from the universes of this cluster. In practice, this means that Malgus streams have no Primus and a non-singularity Unicron although a Church of Primus has nonetheless sprung up." Other neat things about it include ot running a century ahead of other continuities and it having at some point been visited by creatures from the ben 10 universe.
How exactly does a Concept Artist Omit a character from a story? Why does it being in the future make it more likely that Ben 10 Happened to it? Ben 10 was set in like 2006.
@@PerspectiveEndIt's not the fact it's set in the future that makes some sort of transdimensional contact likely. It's the fact Wyatt liked to leave all sorts of easter eggs for his other shows in the one he was working on, so multiple Transformers Animated weapons, such as lockdown's hook and Grimlock's sword can be seen in the background of Omniverse, while some Ben 10 Aliens appear in Transformers media.
TFWiki: Vector Prime speculated that Ben 10's universe, located somewhere beyond the multiverse, may have interacted with a Malgus Cluster universe at some point, allowing the alien bounty hunter Khyber to collect Cybertronian artifacts. Conversely, species from Ben 10's universe can occasionally be found within the Transformers Multiverse. The same page then has this in the notes: The reason Primus doesn't exist in this universal cluster is because Derrick J. Wyatt didn't like Primus. (I'm not sure how he got to make that call either, but he appears to have been the resident mega-fan of the Transformers animated team, so maybe he pulled some strings?)
Optimus prime, or should i say orion pax (since he's no cybertronian leader), also has pointless details. U see him whenever he transform from firetruck to robot mode his fire truck ass always disattached from him. Like wat?? Why couldnt they just make the entire firetruck parts into 1 body or made his ass seperate as the super mode like the armada??? If they wanted to make him to look like a truck then why not make him scan a fucking truck?? Why firetruck if he keeps seperating from his firetruck ass??!
I mean they did recontextualize the name Prime in that show, so it meant something different than Leader of all Autobots, but yeah, Orion Prime would have made better sense. And don't get me started on the "Transformations" in this show.
What’s your opinion on sari, both her human form’s, her robot mode, her character. And anything else you can think of. I wish she appeared again or at least a version of her
Even in spite of the Supermodel lips, i still believe This design pulls off Optimus with a Mouth the best. And that’s not really meant as a compliment to this guy. The bar is just that low.
6:54 according to toys, he should've had water or slime inside his helmet, because i guess it's screaming that it's chemical warrior. It also reminds me mr. freeze from batman
It's been a really long time since I sat through the whole show, so I'm not really sure. The only thing that stands out uniquely to me is the First Time Omega shows up, and then also Prowls Death.
I think that the reason why they look human is the same reason the prime ones look humans. Mechanical or not. There still living creatures. They have organs and bones just not the ones us humans have.
I don’t care that prowl looks nothing like his couterparts he is one the greatest characters In transformers history rivaling dinobot. That’s right I said it

I definitely like Animated Bumblebee's design more than most of the other Animated characters, and it's way better than the movie version. I think Wasps design is likewise pretty good, and yeah I'm not huge on the Waspinator version because I mean that just doesn't speak to the BW character.

I don't know why they made the design choices they did, because clearly the designers were smoking something that made them commit to these designs. Someone probably spent a weekend watching super hero cartoons while on the production committee while high as a kite and showed up to work with an idea in their head.
Here's the thing Derrick J Wyatt is the guy who designed the original Teen Titan's cartoon, and yet his style was way more reserved for that.
Done good roasts, my wife laughed at your song. Definitely helped my sick day get a little better
Glad to hear that you both enjoyed and that my singing mastery is unparalleled.
5:27 actually I never saw any words that labeled him as sound wave, what gave it away for me is the speakers on his shoulders and behind his head. That’s how I knew this was sound wave
But Speakers are not a normal part of Soundwave's Design.
@@PerspectiveEnd but they reminded me of G1 Soundwave’s alt mode
Wow, I didn't know you had a degree in animation, that's pretty cool.
I personally loved animated, I know some people don't care for the character designs, but it never really bothered me. I only wish we got season 4 because it was supposed to have a Shattered Glass episode, and I really want to see the Shattered Glass universe in animation
Yeah and so maybe prowl can cum back cuz he's my favorite character
CGI Animation specifically, but they do teach you the Fundamentals of traditional.
I wish we got season 4 as well, there were so many plot threads left hanging.
That thumbnail…
It scares me…
ruclips.net/video/WUhOnX8qt3I/видео.html
Good. It did it's job.
You say he doesn’t resemble soundwave, but if I showed you the design and told you it was an existing character, I’m 70% sure you would guess soudnwave
I don't think I would. Cover his belt buckle and I'd have like no hope.
4:33 I just realized that he looks like he has a mustache shaped like the letter W. And now I'm imagining him talking like Wario
He does have the Wario feel.
@@PerspectiveEnd remember when they made Huffer and Pipes, Mario and Luigi?
I want you to rewatch the series, and give it a series review
I'm not opposed to that at all.
Gotta say it's funny how the charcter who's meant to have the biggest chin, doesn't have the biggest chin. And I've never seen that more G1 animated prowl design it looks way better than the one they went with or more recognizable.
Yeah they were going to have prowl look like that, but then they decided for some reason to make him look like a 70s CHIPS officer.
@@PerspectiveEnd Don't you mean chin officer? LOL!
Whatever, Barricade was a much cooler cop robot than that moron that got shot by Megatron in the G1 movie anyway.
Why does megatron keep getting sucky hands. In beast wars (I know he’s technically a separate character) he has a tail for one hand and a dinosaur head for the other, he has claws in the movies, and In this show he has astrotrans arm cuff things so he can only move his hands one way
He technically had a real robot hand hiding inside that tail.
Love the art style of animated really like how they just stand out
I think with a few Refinements I could have too, it's close to being OK in my eyes.
How would you fix the designs
I'd make them not look like humans in body suits, and I'd give them all normal sized chins. Plus Optimus's Face plate would never come off.
2:35 my only three problems with animated Prime are that he turns into fire truck, he’s not voiced by Peter Cullen, & his face is blue.
I'm ok with other people voicing Prime.
@@PerspectiveEnd me too. It’s not that big of an issue
You have a degree in animation?! That's impressive
CGI Animation, but they teach you the fundamentals of Hand Drawn, and then there are the traversable skills, like frame rates, shot comp, lighting. All that kind of stuff.
What is your opinion on this shows take on soundwave (design aside)
I don't care for it. It's mostly not a character. I like my Soundwaves Loyal, and at Megatrons right hand.
the chins, man...THE CHINS!!!
The chins are staring into my soul.
4:03 speaking bending downward, I’ll bet Lugnut could vouch that Megatron’s Megatrout is the supreme leader of all Decepticocks.
Mega-Trout?
@@PerspectiveEnd The joke is he’s Megatron’s bitch.
@@PerspectiveEnd it’s also like a play on words
You know what would be funny? If they'd had made the shovel of Sentinel's snow prowler mode into his chin
That would be funny yes.
damn I haven't been keeping up with your vids in a while and this just popped up in my recommended but thanks for the fun video as always
I'm glad to have you back, hope this time I won't get lost in the shuffle, but if I do, just glad I ever got to entertain you.
Who is your favorite Decepticon character wise
This was explained in universe by an "Ask Vector Prime"
To quote TFWiki: "The entire cluster is affected by a higher-than-normal interference wave range of 8.7 generated by the non-linear WY-att pulse function, effectively barring multiversal singularities from the universes of this cluster. In practice, this means that Malgus streams have no Primus and a non-singularity Unicron although a Church of Primus has nonetheless sprung up."
Other neat things about it include ot running a century ahead of other continuities and it having at some point been visited by creatures from the ben 10 universe.
They made ratchet look like a Mcdonalds employee.
Not sure what you mean by that.
@@PerspectiveEnd It's just the color scheme.
What was your reaction to seeing these designs for the first time. Did you always hate them
I actually hated them EVEN MORE when I first saw them. I've actually acclimated to them a good bit.
@@PerspectiveEnd my problem with that was ultra magnus's name, if magnus was the leader title then wats even ultra magnus's real name? Ultra?
What’s your opinion on sari, both her human form’s, her robot mode, her character. And anything else you can think of. I wish she appeared again or at least a version of her
She's pretty annoying starting out, but I like her when she's finally figured out she's a robot.
@@PerspectiveEnd to bad she was barley in season 3
6:10 Hes a Galactic Man.
Full Song Please !
Glad you enjoyed that bit. I was very proud as it struck me like a bolt of lightning. It just came so easily.
What’s your opinion on the constructicons, I like there designs
Like most things in this serries, they are a little strange. They are too human, but they are OK.
Even in spite of the Supermodel lips, i still believe This design pulls off Optimus with a Mouth the best. And that’s not really meant as a compliment to this guy. The bar is just that low.
I could not disagree more, this is the single prime face I hate the most, even when compared to the movies.
This one actually creeps me out.
6:54 according to toys, he should've had water or slime inside his helmet, because i guess it's screaming that it's chemical warrior. It also reminds me mr. freeze from batman
That's interesting, You don't really see toys that come filed with liquid much any more.
I wanna see your take on the WFC/FOC designs.
I should have put that on the vote for this one.
What is your fav episode of the show, irl sorry if this is slowly becoming a q@a
It's been a really long time since I sat through the whole show, so I'm not really sure. The only thing that stands out uniquely to me is the First Time Omega shows up, and then also Prowls Death.
@@PerspectiveEnd not sure what’s my fav a lot of episodes I’m drawn to are pretty controversial
I think that the reason why they look human is the same reason the prime ones look humans. Mechanical or not. There still living creatures. They have organs and bones just not the ones us humans have.
The prime ones don't look 1/10th as human as these do. This is like literal people wearing a few cardboard boxes.
I'm thrilled I'm not the only one who saw Braniac in the torso, haha! Difference here is somehow Luthor has less ego than Sentienel
Well you see Sentinel is an Alien Robot, they have developed new advanced technologies to increase the size of their egos.
Did they use the crimson chin as a reference for like half the characters
No, I think they used the Tick, and Jay Leno as references for all of them.
I don’t care that prowl looks nothing like his couterparts he is one the greatest characters In transformers history rivaling dinobot. That’s right I said it
I wouldn't say he Rivals Dinobot, but I would say that he was a very good character.
Oh the irony, we were all expecting the ABSOLUTE ROAST of Sentinel, and in the end that ABSOLUTE ROAST went towards Optimus
Indeed it was, people were excited for the Chin Roast for that Delicous Chin meat, but I just couldn't do it when it's a joke.
@@PerspectiveEnd Yeah, why make a rant over a funny joke anyways? If there's ever a part 2 of this, I think we could expect to see small-faced Blackout appear. Seems like Strika was the one who got a major benefit from Animated's art style
My dad and me just watch both animated and prime and while I thought he enjoyed prime more actually liked animated more. Which is funny since he actively praised prime while watching it
Did you both prefer animated or just your dad?
@@PerspectiveEnd honestly I can't say for certain I enjoy prime more. They're on equal grounds to with a slight edge to animated who has my boy LUGNUT (hopefully a release with his new sister in the future?) And younger Optimus prime is my favorite prime and I would like to lobby for the inclusions of the grapple hooks and extinguishers in another
Optimus prime design.
Oh thank primus he didn't go after my waifu Blackarachnia/Elita, that would have crushed my spark.
I didn't have time to go after her.
Have no idea what to wright about so i'm gonna say, that you set my expectations of Earthrise Optimus Prime, that when i got him in hand i was blown away. Thank you.
I'm glad to hear that reasonable expectations made you enjoy the figure.
I like the expressiveness of this artstyle but I can understand the more robotic angle, what do you think of there vehicle modes gesturing,m I think it’s cute but i would get why some would be bothered by it
Yeah. Me cave man. Me just want to see robot. Me no like meat creatures.
@@PerspectiveEnd grimlock; only me grimlock get to talk like that
@@PerspectiveEnd grimlock; what do puny human think of me design
I really wish there was a 4th season, but holy shit this is probably my favorite video of yours! So good! 9.5/10, it doesn’t get a 10 cause I need you to comment on Tom Kenny doing starscream before blackface.
Happy to hear that you enjoyed the video so thoroughly. Too bad I couldn't hit that Mythical 10.
Honestly i like the long wait for these videos they’re a fun once in a while break from reviews also I would like to know what designs from the show you think are the best
I actually Like Shockwave, and Bumblebee.
And yeah, I do try to space them out just to keep the cache for them high when I do pop them out. But the last one was like 3 months ago.
What is your opinion on the dinobots
Grimlock and Swoop are OK, with Swoop being the better one, Slag is really lame looking. I wish Grimlocks chest didn't look so plain.
I used to hate animated waspinators design but it’s growing on me
I think it's one of the least offensive in the show to me.
4:57 would that make a good show idea or am I too far gone to be saved?
Can it be both!
What’s your opinion on animated bumblebee and wasp. I hate waspinator technorganic form, but I like his normal mode, same with bumblebee. Prime and rescue bots bumblebee is better though
I definitely like Animated Bumblebee's design more than most of the other Animated characters, and it's way better than the movie version.
I think Wasps design is likewise pretty good, and yeah I'm not huge on the Waspinator version because I mean that just doesn't speak to the BW character.
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah, he’s the complete wrong shade of green, I can’t tell the beast mode from the robot mode, he’s way to mesy.
I think the back colorscheme was to reflect him being a stealthy ninja
It was apparently just a CHIPS Reference.
@@PerspectiveEnd what do you mean, what CHIPs do you refer to
Let’s see it, rip apart my childhood perspective
How thorough was I?
@@PerspectiveEnd it was good, I’m happy you paid respects to the animator
Blitzwing is the best boy in this series, I am your father y the way.
PD: *_R A T T R A P M A F I A_*
I managed to give soundwave a car alt mode with it still being super faithful to g1
How'd you do that?
@@PerspectiveEnd do you have pixilart
@@PerspectiveEnd idk I just did, keep in mind it’s a pixilaet drawing and I haven’t draw the car alt mode itself but I have given him the kibble
I still can’t believe you didn’t comment on the fact shockwave has deer altners. Seriously those are deer antlers and you will not convince me otherwise
I felt it was more important to make a David Bowie Joke.
@@PerspectiveEnd okay
What’s your opinion on Sentinal prime character wise
He's a DBag that you really want to see grow, but absolutely never does.
