    I believe they were destined to be together. It’s sad that they were married to others, and their respective spouses got hurt by their actions.

      If they were BOTH already married, then they were not 'destined' to be together......

    • @katrinaolsen2444
      @katrinaolsen2444 2 года назад +8

      @@fabianpatrizio2865 Well, they left those respective spouses and were married for 20 years. The marriage broke down because of Vivien’s Bipolar Disorder. Until 1960, they toured doing stage productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Their profession as actors consumed them. Neither of them thought that movies were terribly important. They did movies so they could afford to tour doing various plays. There is no way either of them would have stayed married to someone who could never understand their obsession with acting onstage. Olivier left Vivien and married Joan Plowright, an actress. Vivien’s companion after Olivier was Jack Merivale. He was also an actor. Jack was there when Vivien passed.

    Very sexist and wrong to day that Vivien Leigh only got her part in Gone with the Wind because of Oliviers recommendation. Olivier's recommendation would mean squat in the new motion picture company that was formed to make Gone with the Wind. Vivien Leigh had to fight off almost every actress in Hollywood and the USA to get the part. She got it on merit, not on recommendation.

    Why is your question "was it wrong Vivien couldn't resist Olivier's charm even though they were both married". You don't think he had any responsibility or choice? Sexist much? Pretty pathetic.

    There is no doubt that Vivien Liegh and Lawrence Olivier is the most impactful and legendary romance of the 20 th century. Their love was sweet romance out of a Shakespearean creation with nuances of grand love of affair to rival the very foundation of British Royalty. I find these 2 legendary figures more exciting and passionate than of the British Royals Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth and certainly most intriguing.❤️🙏🏼🌟

    @ Age of Vintage, Well you have done it again. Doing what you do best. There are some exquisite photographs of Vivien Leigh that I have never seen before. I did know that they both had a tumultuous affair, whilst they were still both married to their respective partners. The stories that circulated Hollywood that Vivien was uncooperative & labelled hard to work with quite possibly were due to her undiagnosed Bipolar disorder, which very little was known about it at the time. They were treating it back then with a type of electric shock therapy, which many people believed led to her early & untimely death at only 53 years old. A tragic end to a magnificent talent & leading lady. Love Love from Australia 🇦🇺💖💛💜💚💋

      She didn’t meet someone she “liked”, she met the love of her life? What “ values” are a contradiction to the choices they made? Wows are given at a certain point in a certain time, they’re true when you say them but time changes who you are, what you feel and what you want and how’s rejecting the man you ACTUALLY love to stay with someone you DON’T love, an honourable thing? People marry from all sort of reasons. Would you want someone to stay with you, not from love but from morals and discipline? Not really, right?

To leave and attache yourself again is a journey, complex, nuanced and heartbreakingly difficult, with considerations in ALL directions. ( especially with children involved)
      Do what YOU want to do, don’t moralise about others. Have empathy and leave them alone.

      @@bombsingaza “do what you want to do, empathize with others, leave them alone,”…..huh? Where in my one-sentence response did you get all those assumptions from? I didn’t make any judgements about them and your response doesn’t invalidate my reply that people could still leave their marriages before embarking on affairs that can hurt someone. They’re two beloved actors who are long gone; I’m not “telling” anyone how to live their lives lol. You seem unnecessarily defensive about this. Just as you have empathy for those who start romantic affairs, people can also have empathy for the partners who are betrayed by them. It’s way more complicated than you’re making it seem and yet you feel the need to lecture people as if they’re making moral judgements about their lives….which I did not. Strange.

    In addition to errors pointed out in other comments (a) Before GWTW Leigh was briefly a British 'starlet' and then a British star but she was never a Hollywood starlet; 21 Days was released in 1940 but filmed in 1937; while Leigh was completing GWTW Olivier was indeed in New York but on stage, not filming; the patriotic couple left the US for Britain in December 1940, not 1943.
