I learn more about it every day, but a lesson that's been really close to me this year is how to grieve. It's a tough learning curve to really embrace both your life and your grief, and to share your feelings with those around you (death is so stigmatised in the west!), but it's spaces like yours that really help get me out of a darker headspace when I retreat to online spaces rather than facing life. Thanking you for continuing to bring your positivity and mindfulness to this corner of the internet xx
Hi Jade! Like you, one of the things that brings me the most joy in life is learning. And if learning is amazing, the idea of being able to contribute with my work to expanding the frontiers of human knowledge or just creating something of value for the world with that knowledge is even more amazing!! So much so that learning and working have become a part of my identity and a reason why I feel valuable. In the past year, since I graduated, life has taught me how unrealistic and dangerous this view of myself is and how fragile I am because of it. If my value is connected to my work, who am I if I'm not enjoying my current job? Who am I if I don't know what I want to work in? Am I just not trying hard enough? Am I just lazy? And what if there are other things in life that now bring as much joy as learning did? And what if sometimes I now enjoy these other things more than I enjoy learning? Am I just getting distracted from my life's mission? Who am I if I am not the girl who's always learning and working? I have come to realize that life is the journey and the end in itself. That working in something you are interested in can be incredibly rewarding, but if you don't know what you want to do right now, it's fine too. That just means that at this point in your life, instead of stressing about how you have less value because you are not finding joy and fulfillment in working, you should be learning, exploring, having new experiences that can bring you in contact with the things this world has to offer. And in the process, there may appear things that really spark your interest, that you will really want to think about, and maybe you will find other people who also want to think about those things, and if you are lucky, society may even pay you to think about those things! And if you never find something, that is fine too. There's no pressure. Meaning in life doesn't come from your work; it comes from life itself. From living. From doing the things that you want to do. Not the things you should be doing. So what I have learned in the past year is: life should be about you pursuing the things that really, really make you tick. To find the things that really make you tick, you must have space in your life to explore the world and yourself so that you create opportunities to come in contact with things that may spark your interest. To open this space in your life and be able to think freely, you must let go of the things you think you should be doing and being but, in reality, are not who you are or what you want to do. To identify what these things are, you must understand yourself, your upbringing, and the culture you were raised in well enough to be able to discern your true callings from your learned callings. Then, just understand there isn't any inherent greater meaning in life besides living life the way you want. The way that makes you happy. The way that you feel is in alignment with yourself. Strive to be authentic.
I have learned that you have to accept that people go and you have to let them go in order to let new people into your life it is impossible to keep everyone close to you throughout your whole life. 🌍
I have learned video editing and I edit videos for one of my best friend she's a small beginning youtuber 💗✨I know it's not like she has million subs or anything but I make quite a bit of money for myself
Grief and loss has taught me so much about life, losing someone so important and having to find a reason to continue, losing yourself with them and having to find a new version of yourself. Death is such a central part of life but it’s also so difficult to grasp and understand. I feel like I’ve completely lost the version of myself I was before but I’m also proud of who I am now❤
This is so important. I have learned that, too. And I am trying to accept death as the natural thing it is. It is talked not enough about the fact that everything is temporary. Being grateful for every connection before it ends is key and then being open again to let new love in is so hard but so important. You are not alone with this ❤
One thing i learnt outside of school was how to effectively heal. School teaches us how to be productive in work but productively resting yourself is just as important🌎
Getting bullied sometimes as a child and being body shamed for being too big for my age only because I reached puberty sooner, taught me so much about being kind with people, because I didn't want anyone to feel sad in that same way. This turned out to be such a blessing and that kindness became the most important part of my character and it's a light I carry with myself everywhere❤
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for choosing to learn love and compassion from such dark times in your life. I'm very sure that other people would come out of that experience with different reflections, so this is a testament to your wonderful mindset 🦋
I'm a high school student who will be graduating in june 2024. No matter how much knowledge I am gaining each day, I feel that there is so much more of the world that I have yet to discover, and it overwhelms me sometimes. but I genuinely find peace in watching your videos, knowing that I can take things at my own pace, being a student of life ✨🌏 I have learned alot about myself through journaling, expressing my thoughts freely and finding inner peace by being on my own. Please continue making contents like this, I love them so so much
Traveling and experiencing other systems open your eyes to other paths and ways of approaching life. One thing I didnt learn in school but now in my volunteering year in Bosnia and Hercegowina is that there is no one true life interpretation, there is littereally no truth (and that is said by me as someone who grew up christian and still is). I talked with many of my muslim colleques here who all have different life views. And all of them believe they leased the truth. It really cleared my eyes that the majority of people on this earth are so convinced about their religion, world view etc. without taking into record that they themself are only shaped by their experiences and environment and this is why their world view is so small. I learned to accept the failure of human beings, that we will always have to reflect us and our environment. So dont force your world view on thers, be curious in different cultures, spread love and acceptance! Love from Germany❤
i was 15 when i first started watching your videos. and I'm 21 now. time does fly 🌎 thank you for showing me the world and for the valuable lessons you've shown me all these years ! ❤
Probably how to handle failure. School in the UK only gives a few snapshot opportunities to experience failure, but life gives you endless rapid fire opportunities to fail and process each lesson at your own pace. Great video, Jade, thanks for sharing!
Being diagnosted with a chronic illness, and spending time only by myself in the hospital really opened my eyes. Yes, I know, not really a pleasant experience, yet it was the only thing that helped me to rebuild the relationship with I had with myself, and eventually fall in love with myself. By this I don’t mean that everyone should go through the same thing as me! All I’m trying to say, that spending time alone teaches you so much, more than you think. It teaches you about yourself, it makes you get to know yourself. Because without having a positive relationship with ourselves, we can’t really love anything else.
I've learned more things from life than in formal school, I dig deeper inside myself, and now more about my personality, memories and attachment style. I've learned so many social skills. further than, I questions about alot of philosophical approach especially that relate to religion and faith, and definitely school can't help me to answer these questions
You always put out such genuine and authentic content. You relax my anxieties about being a twenty-something because I feel like I can do anything I want without judgment. Being a grandma and enjoying the occasional clubbing simultaneously really resonated with me haha, most people are judgemental of either extreme, but both CAN exist at the same time and we don't have to box ourselves into categories to please people. Manifesting traveling and learning about the world as a lifestyle,, thanks for the inspiration!!
🌍So motivational!!! Almost cried towards the end because of how deep and important this video was. I'm so glad I watched this before stepping into the new year. Thank you Jade! I pride myself in learning from literally anything around me. Books, movies, nature, social media, people, animals. There's always opportunities to learn from things if you're open minded enough 🥺🧚♀️
Hi Jade! I just wanted to say that I started University this year and it's been so challenging but your videos have really inspired me that there is so much more to learning and studying than I have discovered yet. I solo backpacked Europe for 6 weeks this summer because I was inspired by your videos. Thank you so much for continuing to inspire and uplift all of your viewers
this truly means the world, thank you so much for being in this lil corner of the internet and for being brave enough to go out of your comfort zone!! you've got this 🦋🪐✨ here's to all your adventures
@@UnJadedJadeThe way you define life and learning now could be the result of quality education at school. It made you curious and you discovered learning opportunities. I still tend to believe that I can only get something special that has the potential to change my life in a highly reputable University in Europe or any other developed country. Thank you for sharing this and I thank Elizabeth Filip for the recommendation.
Thank you, Jade. You made my day with your thoughts. Thank you for sharing ❤. I'd say one of the main things I've learned from life is that it is absolutely contradictory. The very same things you thought went with you are the ones that stay out, and viceversa. And the best part is that it isn't always like so. Thank you ❤
Hi Jade, thank you for this video! I just finished university (2 days ago!) and I'm so excited to see what life is like as an adult, away from school. At first I felt saddened at the thought of entering the workforce, rather than getting to spend my days learning. But I'm starting to realize being an adult is full of learning, potentially even more than in school. I love your advice on how to be a student of life, thank you!🌎
AHHH i was just waiting for you to upload while watching your study-with-me videos! jade you have absolutely no idea how much of an impact you have on my life, both academically and mentally. Just watching your videos make me feel so much more productive and comforted. you're my comfort channel and you're such a huge role model to me
Thank you so much for the video and the inspiration 🌍 My two life lessons are that it takes courage to be true to yourself and that the things you fear are almost always bigger in your head than in reality. I am currently learning to catch my fears and turn them somehow into gratitude, curiosity or love. That’s proving to be a challenge. :)
i did learned something outside of school is that self-trust and how to forgive ourselves. bcuz school curriculum is more likely to push us getting a good grade in exam and determine our value by those numbers and ABCD. while I participated some event and self volunteer activities, i felt everyone in this planet have their own role on some extent, everyone is special.🎉 just don’t look down urself and remember, we are already good enough with just living in this earth ❤
I'm a uni student in South Korea. I often catch myself feeling barred from the freedom of my own thoughts because of the conventional way of life and the way of thinking that people around me. The videos you share give me a spark though, and it helps me keep loving life even when it's hard to. Like come on!! Learner for life sounds like an amazing thing to be💓💓
omg i love that you mention routine vs clubbing, i recently felt stuck into giving myself the identity that Yes i’m productive, rountine-based, study, workout all that stuff. And i enjoyed that in one moment but i felt like i blocked myself from other things, like going to a party sometimes or drinking. But i dont want to stop myself from doing anything if it’s not excessive and im okay with it
I learnt about so much from solo travel and how liberating it makes me feel. It also helped me build trust in myself, learn how beautiful the world is and how important human connection is 🌎
I’ve spent first years of my adult life self-educating, so when I finally got into university of my dreams, it seemed just like extension of self learning. It was hard to see how my mates were terrified with grades and exams, they were learning only what they are supposed to learn. I never regret ignoring classes I wasn’t interested in and which didn’t lead me to my goal. So if you tend to be stressed out during exam season, I would suggest thinking of university as of additional tool, which you have chosen. It is not your duty to your country or your parents to follow the curriculum strictly. Build your own study plan 🌿
Hi, can you please elaborate a bit on what you did to “self-educate” yourself? I would like to learn how to do it too, but I find it hard, because I don’t have a clear idea about my future and I’m struggling with it. Thank you 😊
@@alessiabognolo7662 I would reccomend to create an enviroment which can help you to figure it out (for example, i started volonteering at an educational progect), or you can find a "study buddy" on internet to encourage each other. I also didn't have clear idea about future, so I just tried everithing ending up in languages and ancient history. Maybe you can start with just one thing? A language or a biology class)
Struggling with depression taught me a lot about the preciousness of little moments in life, enjoying a good book, being myself, not being ashamed for that. I am definitely not grateful for the terrible moments I had with my mental health, but I learned the importance of casual magic in a way that I never would in school.
I hope we could meet or somehow create a meeting so those who understand life in this way could connect with each other and create new networks and friendships. Just an idea 🤞
I learned more from working than I did in school. It taught me that I can be a confident person, I can be a leader, I can be part of a team, I have good ideas and that I'm not shy, just introverted. I learnt that my work ethic was not just limited to school either.
I've been stuck in a brain funk after my igcses and couldn't be bothered to do anything outside of formal education. This video felt like being yanked out of a ditch in the best way possible. Thank you Jade!!!!
Things I learned outside school: - It's okay to have a dark side. That makes you human. - There are lots of kinds of personalities, brains, bodytypes, family structures, aesthetics, ideologys and there is not a right one - 80% percent of my english - What I like to do and what I'd like to be - That I have ADHD why that makes me different but valid. - Life is hard but I can manifest a better one - Being productive isn't the goal. And I can be productive without looking productive and viceversa - Gratitude is the key to happiness - etc Most of these have come to me from myself or close ones, but the internet has been a great channel to learn discover and learn more about all these things. I haven't had the chance to travel a lot yet, but I'm grateful for being able to listen to people like you
Hi Jade x one thing I learned outside of school is resilience and how to bounce back from past experiences. It is not a thing that is usually done inside the classroom, and it did take me a while to get used to. In the long term however, it benefitted me so much! I love your content so much, as I can relate to it. I loved school so so much, but you were quite restricted on what you did learn, not learning about creativity, expressing yourself etc. I can see where you come from in this video, and I am very sure other people see it too.
I graduated college over 10 years ago and still found this so valuable and interesting to hear your perspective on. There is so much MORE learning I encountered in those 10 years after graduation (and still continue to experience). 🌎
oh, so much! really! specially when living in a country where they speak my third language; when facing deep political crisis and fostering a collective to counter those dark times; when being in different love relationships; by continuing coming back to vipassana in different phases of my life; by getting really sick after finishing my phd thesis etc etc etc
Hi Jade! Thank you for making these amazing videos. I have learned that being myself is worth more than anything. You do not need to behave a certain way for people to like you. You do you, and the people who matter love you the way you are. After watching your videos on topics about meditation, I started taking meditation seriously, and it has helped me so much in processing my thoughts and becoming a better person. It helps in clearing the mind. It kind of works like a reset button for me. So thank you so much for these videos, I really really appreciate you taking up topics that we usually do not give a lot of thought to but are very important, and these videos feed our thoughts.
I learned that the most important person I need to love is myself, more than anyone else. Going through trauma and fighting depression has taught me that much. Never give up on yourself.
I am learning that failure is supposed to happen, it will build you up helping you learn how things work instead of trying to be a perfectionist and stagnant ✨
hi,Jade🦋I think I've learned to take care of myself outside of school.of course, we touched on some topics like sleep schedules and stuff, but I never really understood why I needed all of these. it's because I love myself and want more for my body and mind.thank you for the video! motivating as always🌍
This video was so inspiring as always 💗 It really encouraged me to learn more outside of school, especially now that I’m at university and don’t have as much diverse subjects… One thing that I learnt outside of school is to accept fully the body I live in🤍 Also, it can seem stupid in comparison but the way we’re taught languages at school is just barely teaching us anything, that’s why I actually almost entirely taught myself English thanks to the different resources on the internet, which motivated me to learn even more languages!
Great video! I just have something to say… I think sometimes, when you say Britain, you most likely mean England. For instance, when you mention Britain destroying languages, I think it’s important to note that that’s what England tried to do with Welsh therefore you can’t always encompass Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and England. I know you were talking about Britain’s colonisation but this is something I’ve noticed with lots of people when discussing history or education systems. I loved your take on travelling, after a year abroad, I completely agree. It made me realise a lot about national identity which is most probably why I’m aware of how unfortunately, Britain and England are synonymous for a lot of people which sometimes feels as if the other countries in Great Britain have their identity and culture misinterpreted which is difficult.
One thing I‘ve learned outside of school is that thoughts really do change the experience you have and also what comes to you. Manifestation is real and keeping a clean and conscious mind is so important. ✨💗
I learnt about this one thing outside of school: The HUGE battle for our attention and money in the modern world. Yours is one of the few authentic ones btw...
I learned so much from books about all sorts of mythology and folklore like Egyptian, Greek, Japanese, Scandinavian... And I think it really made me more exciting to visit new places and learn about their history and culture! 🌎💗
hello Jade I know this is so out of topic here. but I'm an Al student who is sitting for Als in a month and I just wanted to say I always used your videos that u posted when u were doing ALs especially your study with me's and the vids about chemistry..I struggle in that subject too..They helped me a lot. I love your videos....Plus I've noticed your eyes pop when u wear that lovely blue butterfly necklace.U look so pretty in this video too.
even though i will be entering grade 9 this year..i already feel that I WANT to keep learning more,be it getting good grades, doing debates..it was everything which I did last year and I was so happy and grateful even though it was my school that introduced me to it..i still feel so many of these things are not taught to us..i am a hardworker even though I am not someone who is born talented but I still feel that living life is the most important cause at the end of day it is you and your memories!..Love from India jade!
Moving from the UK to NZ has taught me so much about this approach to being a student of life and learning is something I still love, even in a less stressful atmosphere. One thing moving away from places has taught me is what I value in friendship, which has lead me through loneliness and introspection on another level, teaching me about how it feels to have the freedom to be yourself with people that give you peace 🌎 I’ve learnt millions of things too since I am an avid reader, this is just one. Sending lots of love and appreciation for this new style of content you are creating!! It’s amazing ☺️
Biggest thing I’ve learnt since school is that people individually are not perfect, we’ve all got different strengths and weaknesses, and that is completely fine 🌍 ❤
The biggest thing that I have learned outside school, is that no matter what's happening, it is ME and only me, who chooses how to view it - do I get mad? do I think I am right and everyone else is wrong? do I want to give that situation the power to change my inner state? Thank you sooo much for this inspiring video! 🌎
Having a canary has thaught me the value of patience, the importance of resting, to do what you feel like doing, to accept things you can't change, how to truly love without trying to change someone, to learn how someone thinks by observing how they react... And so much more ♥️
I'm a new viewer and subscriber 🌏, but so far, your videos have really inspired me to be more independent, explorative and conscientious about the world around me. I think you're really relatable too and can't wait to see what unfolds in your life while I achieve some milestones in mine (like healthily not in the manner of hustle mentality).
Hiii !! :) When I was 11 years old I went for one month to Sweden without my family with an association called CISV. In Sweden I met a lot of other children from all over the world ! We spoke about our countries and cultures, reflected about poverty, social inegalities, war and we also played and sung a lot together for 4 weeks ! It was difficult sometimes to be far away from my parents but I realised that it's possible to feel at home with people from all over the world and this experience really shaped the way I see people and the world ! :) + Having a mental illness and having to go to therapy (psychoanalysis) at a young age taught me a lot not only about myself but also about others ! Now I'm more aware of the consequences of trauma and the impact they can have on individuals but also on society !
Probably losing friends. When I was in high school, my friends and I grew apart because of the pandemic, but that didn't bother me really. What bothered me was that there was also a part in my life when I had to be the one to end my friendship with one of my bestfriends. It hurt me very much, but I know now that I'm more "me" without him, and I actually learned a lot of lessons from him. So even though we're aren't friends anymore, I still appreciate him and were still on good terms.
I’ve been following you since leaving high school, through my college and now in my final years of university. I started a classical Islamic coarse for the first time with my university degree, and a subject called spirituality (‘tassawuf’) interested me. Now I see a lot of the advice you give aligns with our teachings of study etc which I always get excited over. what I have learnt this year, is the importance of learning about healing yourself (the inward) which thus heals the world (outward). Watching you through these years I just genuinely think you would be interested in learning this subject from a different perspective. Being taught through this institution and secular I see major differences in styles of learning.
I’ve learnt that people at least most people are happy to be friends with you and only want to have a good time. they don’t have theses presumptions about me that I have in my head
🌎 thank you for everything Jade!! I really appreciate your videos and perspective on lifelong learning. I have learned so much over the past few months about what kind of routines I want to build for myself in the adult world because I have been living in a house instead of a dorm for my second year of college! It has taught me so much about my routines, my cooking, and just maintaining a space I like to be in. Much love 💕
Hi, Jade! It's so interesting to watch your videos, 'cause your uniqueness shines through. One thing that I learned outside of school is that I'm more capable than I think. Even though I doubted myself, I went to an Erasmus+ traineeship abroad, and I did many other scary things.
Your words are so inspirational. The examples you give of questions you can ask yourself about anything, inspirate me so much. I already looked at myself with much questions, but these examples you gave, helped me to dive even deeper. Overall love your video's and the whole vibe you're creating in it
Jade, I did not learn much history at school when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s and early 1990s. I just did Canadian history such as Native Indians and politics and that was it. I did not do World History. I also did very little Science which was mostly biology and hardly any Physics nor Chemistry. I did very little math, but only Business Math and Arithmetic, but not Calculus, Finite, Algebra & Geometry nor Statistics. I learnt World History, Science, and Mathematics mostly through travelling and watching documentaries and reading books at home.
I have learned that I can do hard things. I have learned that I actually am not shy, just an introvert. I have learned that I will inevitably get (and already have) some of my mother's traits and that I need to start loving them. I have learned that I need to truly appreciate and somehow preserve moments spent with my grandma. I have learned that I don't have to get it right the first time, ever, and actually learn more from not getting things right the 1st time. I have learned that nobody is going to force me to work on my dreams and that if I don't put in the actual work I will stay in the same place forever. I have learned that I love to make my friends feel loved by giving them a well-thought-out meaningful gift. It has been a great year.
I’ve learned that I don’t need to be friends with everyone, not everyone will like you and that’s totally fine. No one’s defined by other’s opinions of them
Yaay and when you will be friends with everyone you will slowly convert into a people pleaser and that can cause us to loose your identity. And when those people leave, it can give mental breakdown.
Wow it blows my mind how different history classes are depending on where you live and how they just gloss over major events that don't show them as good as they like
Hi Jade, Love from Taiwan 🇹🇼❤ One powerful thing that I learned outside of school is it's okay to feel lost and be vulnerable sometimes in my twenties. 🌸
I was reading Deschooling Society from Ivan Illich and the moment that I took a break I saw this video. That's a big coincidence 😮😅 Thank you for the video
I'm a maths teacher nowadays so a large chunk of my learning outside of school takes place in a school which is odd. I spent my training year loving it but wondering how on earth you get kids to do things for themselves. I see students deprived of any role model in their life and find it more natural to truant lessons on their own and not socialise during breaks and lunch. I think to my own life and how loosely I hold it together at my worst times and how relatable some of my students' struggles are. We feel the need to be strong for our classes but this clearly alienates . I was asked at an education seminar "what is the minimum standard of maths skills you want students to exit your school with?" and I honestly think I'd rather my former students have a concept of accepting challenge and setback over the slightest concept of number. I believe schools should be teaching subjects as a medium to understand this abstract concept. I get the question "when will I use this?" a lot and I almost always get classes to pack up 5 mins early to chat about what they think they're in school for. I tell them how ridiculous must it be to go to a school and learnt a vast array of facts and skills over 18 years, just in case you use it in a career but nearly all of them think this is the purpose of it. It's about learning to learn and it's not always academic.
Hope so many educators could and would use this video to work with teens!!! So necessary, love your thoughts :) Being a volunteer and being part of diferents kinds of group learn to me how we can be ourselves in diferents roles. Ourselves are not permanent, all of us flow in diferents contexts and times.
I’m a high schooler and I’ve done a summer abroad and am coming up on my academic year abroad. No, my parents didn’t pay a penny for it. I found scholarship opportunities and truly applied myself and learned Russian and stayed with a host family. There are opportunities!!! Even if you aren’t even an adult yet. Btw I went abroad on the NSLIY scholarship. Highly recommend, also FLEX and YES
I've learnt that there is no real right answer for absolutely anything and that all that exists is something you can dwell upon and look deeper into regardless of whatever it could possibly be. There's always something new to discover or talk about. If you're looking at an apple, you could talk about its shape, its structure, its taste, feel to the touch... You could also go into the artistic side of things and imagine the apple in different artstyles. Then there's also the biology about the fruit and you have even more paths to talk about the apple's chemical compounds, the tree it came from... THEN you could talk about the people that cultivated the apple and transported it to your home... it just keeps going and I haven't even mentioned the infinite tangents that this can lead to if you just keep going deeper and deeper, forever if you wanted to. :)
I absolutely love "Molly of Denali"! (Can you tell?) I've learnt so much from it! It's an animated series that follows the adventures of Molly Mabray, a 10-year-old girl from a Native Alaskan village called Qyah. What makes this show so special is its commitment to representing Alaskan Native culture accurately. The creators worked closely with Alaskan Native advisors and community members to ensure that the stories, characters, and cultural elements are portrayed respectfully. It's a genuine and educational experience that incorporates traditional practices, language, and values of the indigenous peoples of Alaska. Not only does "Molly of Denali" celebrate cultural authenticity, but it also promotes positive messages and educational content. The show encourages problem-solving, critical thinking, and embraces themes of community, friendship, and environmental stewardship. It's a heartwarming and inspiring series. I highly recommend "Molly of Denali" to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of Alaskan Native culture. It's an engaging and enlightening show that offers a captivating glimpse into the lives of Alaskan Natives.
Jade you are truely such a wonderful soul! I love you so much for your genuinity, sharing of your knowledge and love with other ppl in this world 🌎! 🫶🏼😊 Keep inspiring and being you 💜 I began watching your videos back in high school now being in university I still do! There is something amazing about your personality. 💪👌 Love u ❤
I guess something I learned is that everything in life comes in phases. That's the case for the beautiful things, but also the bad things. So basically never give up, because change is always possible and will happen eventually. And funny coincidence, I also listened to Noah Kahan for the first time recently :)
🌍 I have learnt that I'm such a people pleaser and that I need to set boundaries because other people's opinions have influenced my decisions in my life a lot. For example, for A-levels I went full STEM and chose Maths, Bio, Chem and Further Maths because I was influenced by my friends and family that I was only really good at STEM subjects and only enjoyed STEM subjects. However, looking back on it I wished I didn't do further maths and did something like Psychology or Spanish. I ended up dropping further maths at the end of year 12 because it caused me a lot of emotional distress. After this I've been trying to set boundaries so that my thinking isn't really influenced by others. Thanks for the video Jade, really insightful 😄
Wow thank you so much for sharing! This is deeply relatable and I'm so glad you're finally starting to learn how to set boundaries and create the life of YOUR dreams. Big love
Therapy has thought me so much, I had a bridge to that in college but it really happened when I went abroad and had a conversation with someone I wouldn’t have met otherwise :)
One more thing I learned from school of life is that don't ever, in any circumstance pick up a call from unknown number. That's how you get scammed. Be safe out there guys. If you don't have a contact saved in your phone then its not important enough and if its important then people will email you or text you. DON'T PICK UP CALLS FROM UNKNOWN NUMBER.
I’ve always been a good student in school. This year i just entered my dream university and it’s been a real challenge, because even if my grades are not bad, they are average if not underaverage compared to other students. It’s been really hard and i am still truggling to gain my confidence back. But this made me realize that i was defining my worth based on my grades and my academic level my whole life, and now that i am confronted to other people that are smart or even smarter than me, i suddenly have nothing else to be proud of. Your grades don’t define you, and school is not everything. This video comes out with perfect timing as i am trying to figure myself out, to prove to myself that i am much more than just a note on a paper. If anyone else is struggling with this feeling, know that you are not alone and you got this. Keep studying and give your best, but don’t forget that you are not only a student but also a person with feelings opinions, hobbies and it’s the mix of all of this that really defines who you are. Don’t neglect that part of yourself
Hi Jade as always your videos are so inspiring and I just have to comment on this video because I relate to your thoughts so much✨✨As an uni student almost turning 20, firstly on this semester I start to doubt if I could really learn a lot from school lessons. I also found out that I learn more from interviewing assignments rather than listening to theories in class, and in this year 2023 I think I've grown a lot not because I've tried out lot of new things, projects, discussions (podcast, making playlists...). And also thanks to my upbringing, I've travelled more than my peers and these traveling really made me think of my perspective in life, finding out questions about the big environment, and meeting new people through out the journey always bounces out new ideas. I also agree on that calming your heart could help yourself to clarify what is in the moment, and I meditate as well✨Oh and lastly this year I also start to explore and discuss with others what kind of relationship or partners I want...etc., so yes this video is basically what I've thought through this year such a beautiful coincidence aahhh💖✨
THE COLONIALISM PRIDE IS REAL Girl , good that you learnt the real part. As an African that is growing up in Europe, and have fam in many countries here. IT'S CARZY HOW EUROPEANS EXPLAIN COLONIALISM. THEY ARE PROUD AND NOT SHAMED ! OMG 😭
What lessons or skills have you learned outside of school that have shaped who you are today? 🦋✨
Strive to be authentic.
how to think for myself and not be a programmed slave to the system and completely dependent on the system like school wants me to be
I have learned that you have to accept that people go and you have to let them go in order to let new people into your life it is impossible to keep everyone close to you throughout your whole life.
I feel like I’ve completely lost the version of myself I was before but I’m also proud of who I am now❤
Wow, thank you so much for sharing. ❤️🩹
I feel this had to do this, this year gave up lots. Good luck to us both
This is so important. I have learned that, too. And I am trying to accept death as the natural thing it is. It is talked not enough about the fact that everything is temporary. Being grateful for every connection before it ends is key and then being open again to let new love in is so hard but so important. You are not alone with this ❤
I felt this after graduating from school and moving away from home❤️🩹
One thing i learnt outside of school was how to effectively heal. School teaches us how to be productive in work but productively resting yourself is just as important🌎
This is so so true! 🦋 I’ve also learned this outside of school the last few years
Getting bullied sometimes as a child and being body shamed for being too big for my age only because I reached puberty sooner, taught me so much about being kind with people, because I didn't want anyone to feel sad in that same way.
Wow, this is such a beautiful reflection. Thank you for sharing and I'm glad this trip was so impactful for you 🦋
i was 15 when i first started watching your videos. and I'm 21 now. time does fly 🌎 thank you for showing me the world and for the valuable lessons you've shown me all these years ! ❤
oh wow, thank you so much for growing alongside me!! 🥹
I was 13 and now Im 18 xx thank you Jade
Probably how to handle failure. School in the UK only gives a few snapshot opportunities to experience failure, but life gives you endless rapid fire opportunities to fail and process each lesson at your own pace. Great video, Jade, thanks for sharing!
so so true!!
I love your advice on how to be a student of life, thank you!🌎
good luck with everything
AHHH i was just waiting for you to upload while watching your study-with-me videos! jade you have absolutely no idea how much of an impact you have on my life, both academically and mentally. Just watching your videos make me feel so much more productive and comforted. you're my comfort channel and you're such a huge role model to me
this genuinely means the world, thank you!! 🥹✨ and HUGE CONGRATS for all A*s!! you are so so so incredible
@@UnJadedJade no YOUREEEE INCREDIBLE🥹🫶🫶thankyouuu loveeee
Thank you so much for the video and the inspiration 🌍
My two life lessons are that it takes courage to be true to yourself and that the things you fear are almost always bigger in your head than in reality.
I am currently learning to catch my fears and turn them somehow into gratitude, curiosity or love. That’s proving to be a challenge. :)
I would say one of the greatest things I learnt outside of school so far is always listening to and hearing myself 💗 if something feels weird, it is
i did learned something outside of school is that self-trust and how to forgive ourselves. bcuz school curriculum is more likely to push us getting a good grade in exam and determine our value by those numbers and ABCD. while I participated some event and self volunteer activities, i felt everyone in this planet have their own role on some extent, everyone is special.🎉 just don’t look down urself and remember, we are already good enough with just living in this earth ❤
But i dont want to stop myself from doing anything if it’s not excessive and im okay with it
yessss i feel this so deeply!! always follow what feels right for you
I learnt about so much from solo travel and how liberating it makes me feel.
Oh, how i adoreee this!!
Oh wow, thank you so much for sharing 🦋
Honestly, I feel so connected with the way you see and experience life . I really thank you for creating and sharing your thoughts 😊

Things I learned outside school:
- It's okay to have a dark side. That makes you human.
- There are lots of kinds of personalities, brains, bodytypes, family structures, aesthetics, ideologys and there is not a right one
- 80% percent of my english
- What I like to do and what I'd like to be
- That I have ADHD why that makes me different but valid.
- Life is hard but I can manifest a better one
- Being productive isn't the goal. And I can be productive without looking productive and viceversa
- Gratitude is the key to happiness
- etc
Most of these have come to me from myself or close ones, but the internet has been a great channel to learn discover and learn more about all these things.
That you can form meaningful connections with anyone from anywhere.
Sending all the love from the struggles of being 23
we love being 23 hehehe. navigating all the highs n lows n uncertainties of this era 🦋✨
I am learning that failure is supposed to happen, it will build you up helping you learn how things work instead of trying to be a perfectionist and stagnant ✨
Ive learned that you sometimes have to be brave and not always care about what others think when you behave how
you feel good about.
hi,Jade🦋I think I've learned to take care of myself outside of school.of course, we touched on some topics like sleep schedules and stuff, but I never really understood why I needed all of these. it's because I love myself and want more for my body and mind.thank you for the video! motivating as always🌍
Nice profile picture you got there!
More power to you!
I love this so much! 🥹 truly such an important journey to love oneself. I'm also amazed at how you taught yourself english!! huge congrats
@@UnJadedJade thank you so much 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Great video! I just have something to say…
I think sometimes, when you say Britain, you most likely mean England.
So so true!! ✨
I learnt about this one thing outside of school:
The HUGE battle for our attention and money in the modern world.
Jade, I love your videos, they always feel like therapy! Please keep creating content like this. May God bless you and keep you :)
gahhhh i've been feeling really off and insecure recently so words like this are deeply uplifting!! big love to you
The biggest thing that I have learned outside school, is that no matter what's happening, it is ME and only me, who chooses how to view it - do I get mad? do I think I am right and everyone else is wrong? do I want to give that situation the power to change my inner state?
+ Having a mental illness and having to go to therapy (psychoanalysis) at a young age taught me a lot not only about myself but also about others ! Now I'm more aware of the consequences of trauma and the impact they can have on individuals but also on society !
🌎 literally it’s so true I can’t stand formal education but I’ve literally learnt so much just from life in general and doing things outside of school
I absolutely love these videos. Thank you for sharing them! 💛
Thank you for your sweet words 🦋 I love love love this!!
Your words are so inspirational. The examples you give of questions you can ask yourself about anything, inspirate me so much. I already looked at myself with much questions, but these examples you gave, helped me to dive even deeper. Overall love your video's and the whole vibe you're creating in it
Thanks for reminding me that there is so much more to learn than what is handed to me by formal education 🌍 ❤
Love your videos when it’s a gloomy day on a Saturday evening, they are helpful and inspiring ❤
I learned that in this life there is not a boring person, but a person who does not have like-minded people around her.
That's actually a bit education related, but I started doing research at my university before I actually started my courses and it taught me so much!!
I have learned that the people who seem to be the happiest and those who laugh a lot are the ones who are the most hurt and sad, but strong as well. 😢
gahhhh big YES to this!! so so so true 💌
I was reading Deschooling Society from Ivan Illich and the moment that I took a break I saw this video. That's a big coincidence 😮😅 Thank you for the video
Aaaah I love this!! Would you recommend the book?
@@UnJadedJade Yes I do. I think you would love it. It's a whole new perspective. ❤️🥰 Love your videos 😍
We feel the need to be strong for our classes but this clearly alienates
.
Wow, thank you so much for your work. I am certain you will inspire your students more than you know
Hope so many educators could and would use this video to work with teens!!! So necessary, love your thoughts :)
Being a volunteer and being part of diferents kinds of group learn to me how we can be ourselves in diferents roles. Ourselves are not permanent, all of us flow in diferents contexts and times.
Wow, I love this reflection!!
I have learned the practice of self-compassion and the need to give yourself the same grace you give others
you do not need to get everything you want, it all comes in its own flow

I am currently learning Irish through Duolingo, in person conversation and soon "adult" classes in my village hall :) Such a joy !
sleep is soooo important and we should take more care of ourselves by getting enough night-time sleep!
Hi Jade, glad to see the notification. I enjoy your video. Thank you for sharing. Keep up! 🧡🌟
I guess something I learned is that everything in life comes in phases. That's the case for the beautiful things, but also the bad things. So basically never give up, because change is always possible and will happen eventually.
And funny coincidence, I also listened to Noah Kahan for the first time recently :)
I love this message so much!! and aaaaah what did you think of his music?
I tried this last year and it backfired - sticking to pursuing grades and success rather than some nebulous feelings
GURL I HAVE ALSO BEEN SCAMMED this is the kinda knowledge we all need to know ✨👏🫡
🌎 i have lerned so many perspectives on life from you Jade and from other youtubers and podcasts
Jade, you’re such a beam of sunshine. Love you 🌍
Hi Jade as always your videos are so inspiring and I just have to comment on this video because I relate to your thoughts so much✨✨As an uni student almost turning 20, firstly on this semester I start to doubt if I could really learn a lot from school lessons. I also agree on that calming your heart could help yourself to clarify what is in the moment, and I meditate as well✨Oh and lastly this year I also start to explore and discuss with others what kind of relationship or partners I want...etc., so yes this video is basically what I've thought through this year such a beautiful coincidence aahhh💖✨
you just get it 👏🏼
I’m going on a meditation treat today, partly due to hearing your experience. Thanks for sharing!
THE COLONIALISM PRIDE IS REAL
Girl , good that you learnt the real part.
As an African that is growing up in Europe, and have fam in many countries here. IT'S CARZY HOW EUROPEANS EXPLAIN COLONIALISM.
THEY ARE PROUD AND NOT SHAMED ! OMG 😭
Really inspiring, like always. Thank you so much! ❤
jade i love your videos you may not be in university anymore but you are in the university of life
wisest video i’ve seen on youtube in ages
🌎 I learnt about meditation outside of school and it really helps calm me down 🥰🥰
There are lifestyles that are with completely different thoughts and values!
The law of attraction. You get what you give. Or in other words you get what you vibrate.
