I am also a truck driver working in Canada. I really appreciate your effort to take videos while been on the road. It is really an easy job for the people who are watching this from outside but we know how tough this job being alone for months lack of sleep all these to keep our country moving. All the very best have a safe driving
John, I "met" you while watching DownieLive. What a connection you guys had, 2 total strangers in a truck (Road Train) amazing! Its not work if you enjoy what you do
Awesome. Thanks Richard. Yes Michael and I got along really well. If you see us off camera, well we didn't stop talking. I think it's because our personalities were very similar.
did that trip early December. What I have realised is that the roadhouses that make the effort to cater for the truckies serve the BEST food. I got a roast beef & salad roll at Balladonia ( or maybe Caiguna ? ) that kept me going all day. I had half for lunch and the rest for dinner. Huge. Classic Aussie meat & salad roll.

It was a really tiring trip, my friend. But the scenery along the way was really beautiful, plus the amazing animals. If I may ask, how much did you spend to fill up with diesel? And how long did it take you to reach your destination? Greetings from Indonesia
@RoadTrainAdventures oh is that so, that's a lot, 4000 liters. In Indonesia, we can't fill up with that much diesel, because we are given a quota of 200 liters per fill up by the government here and before we fill up with diesel, we have to show the barcode to the station officer, even though our journey is also far, every station we pass to refill sometimes there is no diesel available, sometimes we have to bring spare diesel so we don't run out of diesel in places far from the filling station. even though our country is a producer of petroleum, its people have difficulty getting diesel and gasoline

Love to see a collection of grain silos and the artwork 👌 Johnno, the longing you put on me for Australia 🇦🇺 is unreal. Wouldn't mind tramping across Australia. The only thing is to get me to stop ✋️. My owner, " the good wife," 😤 wouldn't be too impressed . When I was doing van and trailer around Ireland 🇮🇪 didn't have to worry about tachograph or time cards . Got into the trucks, and it ruined it all. Impressive truck run and show 👌 . Thanks for part 2, we weren't let down or disappointed. Always an informative video produced by you 👍 until the next.

Nice one Johnno, two weeks after Xmas day and Phillip island is busy as with holiday makers and tourist. Also I am sure you enjoyed your Xmas break with your family..cheers
Great video Johnno. We can tell you love your job, always happy and smiling.Dont know where you get all that energy to drive all that way, join a convoy, then unload your cargo.Unbelievable how hard you work.Happy New Year Johnno, hope its a good one.
Hey Johnno, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I would love to see a whole episode on our Silo Art. Seeing the convoy going through the tunnel was good to see, I bet you guys had some fun with that :)
Hi johnno thanks for another awesome video with some great history along your route and finishing off with some mighty fine rigs in Perth so wishing you safe miles for 2025 cheers from tim in queensland ( keep on trucking )
My mother (who is in her 90s) grew up in Koorda in the 1930s and was born in nearby Wyalkatchem. I have been there a couple of times and it was great to see it on your video. I really enjoy the little travel bits that you include in your videos now. It would be great to see more of the painted silos. I have been to quite a lot of them, but there always seems to be more to see.
I'm a car driver who loves the open road. I traveled on the N7 here in South Afica from Cape Town to Namibia twice in 2024 and both times I was quite shocked to see how quiet the road was......trucks few and far between and the same for cars. I've been doing that trip since 1986. For those who aren't aware....the N7 is the main route for traffic on the west coast into Africa from RSA. The gradual decrease in the amount of traffic on this route over the years has been quite noticeable and I believe economics has everything to do with it. Thanks for a great video.....once again.🎉
@RoadTrainAdventures Yes. My heart goes out to the truck drivers. On my last trip to Namibia, the number of trucks I saw in a few hours on the road, I could count on one hand. This happened on both trips to Namibia in 2024. In fact, on both trips I counted less than 10 longhaulers per day. It is very concerning but in line with what macro economists have been predicting for the past few years. Geopolitics and macro economics are affecting all of us. I am in the Retail business. Our sales have dropped on average by ±40% in the past year. Some retailers I know have recorded bigger drops and large numbers of them are closing down on a monthly basis. I follow RUclipsrs in the US that report on these matters and they report massive losses and layoffs over there.
Another great Vlog, good entertaining commentary, about roadhouses and Australian geography, and your fav foods, cheers from Downunder 🦘🦘🦘❤️🇦🇺,ps Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! To you and your family!
Happy New Year Johnno, hope 2025 is a great year for you, love the drone shots yet again and the truck convoy / show looked fantastic, also love the silo art, they are brilliant and a great attraction for the country towns , stay safe out there, cheers, Garry
The horn blowing in the tunnel reminded me: as kids, we would always ask my dad to blow the car horn every time we drove through a tunnel. Couldn't tell you now what the fascination was. ;-)
It's so funny to listen to you talking 'bout x-mas while evrything around you looks like mid-summer... 😉 Well, I hope that you and your family had a great christmastime! Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻
@ I do for sure! 😂 I‘ve got a friend living in NZ and everytime we chat and talk about the weather it is so funny. She‘s weearing summerclothes while I have to pick thick pullovers. Or even the other way around… 😉
Hi Johnno, hope you well. Over France thé freight is very poor over Christmas and New year. Not many trucks on the road. Btw i will complet my application form for the visa next saturday, so that mean i chould be in Australia betewn end of septembre and december. I am so please. Just will need then to find a mc job 👍🍺. Have a nice and save journey
One of worst sections of the drive west is that afternoon drive from Madura to Norseman very hard on the eyes "aye" always glad to see the sun set catch up Johnno cheers "RB" Albury
Stopped at Madura a few weeks ago and was salivating for the bangers and mash only to be told they where only on the dinner menu after 5.30 PM. What a bummer.
@@RoadTrainAdventures I figured that out and showed my truck licence, but the only staff there were a couple of backpackers and they did not know how to do it. I will time my visit there next time to be after 5.30. As I am 80 they may have just been making excuses. On that trip I also stayed in Korda, a nice place. The exact route you take by-passing the main highway would be interesting to know the next times I go to Perth.
I really don't know how you guys can do a job like this....I didn't interstate twice and then quit... But thanks great video thanks for carrying Australia...!
Another great video Johnno. I'm a big fan of the silo art and have done a few silo trails through Victoria, NSW and Qld. Would really like to see the silo art around SA and WA if you have time. Safe travels. Cheers🍺
The reason it’s quiet on your roads is because they’re all in south east Queensland. We’ve had horrendous traffic mainly due to the road widening on the highway from Currumbin to Burleigh Heads. I think every caravan has passed through this area
Hope you had a great Christmas break with the family. A few months ago we we camped at Nungarin in WA at the local pub that just reopened after being closed for a year when you rattled by. You should have called in. Safe travels mate.
Australia for sure has the most unique trucking culture, you can find Scanias and Kenworths driving along in the same convoy and neither of them look out of place.
Happy New Year John. Great to see you back on the track. Interesting it's so quiet this time of year on the Nullarbor. Travellers getting tapped out? BTW: How's your 'new to you' truck going mate? Cheers
Hey Johnno you were saying how quiet the road was, i just saw a RUclips video of a Pacific National train from Melbourne to Perth arriving in Parkeston with almost a quarter of the wagons empty, so not just road transport
That's interesting info about the "shortcut" through Koorda which brings trucks out onto the road train route then straight into Perth from the north instead of double running trailers from Northam. Has any enterprising company built any facilities for truckies along that route, or is it too close to other facilities to warrant it?
No nothing has changed. There aren't enough trucks to warrant building anything plus one day Main Roads will change it so we can road train down a Greenmount.
Hi Johnno another great video I know you got the blue mountains in n s w looks to me the rest of Australia is pretty flat it seems to be where you go is that true or do you avoid them stay safe mate regards bob uk
Thanks Bruce. That's a tricky one. You see whilst we may have to do that if I were so make an emergency stop just for a video and something breaks them in going to be in trouble. This kind of stop puts everything under a lot of stress and sometimes something may break. I don't think my boss will be happy if I did that just for a video.
Just watched both parts this evening. Hope you had a good Christmas John. Loving the channel and your insights. Interested to know how things work on the business side of things down under. Where and how do you pick up loads? Do you use an agency? or do you have direct customers?...and on a long cross country haul like this where did you pick up your back load from and to? Sorry if that's too many questions mate.
At I work for a company I don't have to worry about any of that. We have our own customers and we have others we might sub-contract for. We get loads either end of the country.
Do you pull into the Madura roadhouse on the way over to Perth? If you do, have you heard of triples dropping a trailer to get out from the roadhouse onto the highway then going back to pick up the dropped trailer? Just saw a Facebook post where a triple got stuck going up, tried to reverse back down and got tangled up. A passing ex-truckie assisted the two (Indian) drivers to drop trailers, get up to the highway and come back bobtail for the rest. Comments there suggested this was a 'known issue' and drivers leave a trailer there, climb out to the highway and come back. It all sounds a bit sus but there's pictures of a tangled triple.

👍👍
Very good but when are you going to demo the "emergency stop in a road train".😀
Thanks Bruce. That's a tricky one. You see whilst we may have to do that if I were so make an emergency stop just for a video and something breaks them in going to be in trouble. This kind of stop puts everything under a lot of stress and sometimes something may break. I don't think my boss will be happy if I did that just for a video.
These are so cool! Ive seen Outback Truckers and it doesnt show this kinda stuff!
No they like to show stuff that they believe will keep the viewer on the edge of their seat.
Drove for USDOT US Government Trucks , Duel and tri axle tractors , did not have many problems with inspections or with the local police
No I don't either but some people have a bad run with them.
Hometown Small Time Feeling - Jonny Houlihan cant find this song anywhere !!!!
I got this song from a paid music subscription service. I thought he had a Facebook page with his songs on too.
My husband says hello, we're watching your show now mate, my husband says, "Enjoy your free coffee, and take care he says 😁
No. i didn’t say it.
Ha ha. Very good
👍
@RoadTrainAdventures have a good one, mate😊
You too
Just watched both parts this evening.
I remember you visited the museum before
Very good
Was that you beeping the horn today in Caltowie at 6.15pm.
We saw the truck heading Pirie way.
No. I'm still on holidays for another week.
@@RoadTrainAdventures one of your Red Trucks beep on the way through, we thought it was you😊 Hope your enjoying you break!😊
Oh OK. Thanks. Not much left of holidays now.
I love Sludge from outback truckers
Yeah he's cool.
Oh no. Yes I always pull into the roadhouse. When a AB triple should be able to get up the hill. That's no good.
