마라탕을 만들 때는 미리 만들어둔 된장만 넣지 말고 마라탕 재료를 넣고 냄새가 날 때까지 볶다가 물을 넣는다. 그래야 더 맛있을꺼야!
When you make malatang, instead of just adding the ready made paste stir fry the ingredients with the mala until the smell comes out before adding the water. It will taste better like that!

Jihyun, you should try adding peanut butter into your broth at the end! I'm Hmong and for some reason, it seems to only be Hmong people who really add in peanut butter (I've asked other people, but I found it was only Hmong people who add in peanut butter loool). The broth doesn't look as appealing, but it makes the broth a nice, orange color and it adds a lot of flavor to the soup and your noodles! Of course, I'm not sure how it would taste with pre-bought stock though. We also add in a whole bunch of condiments at the end like sriracha, beef paste, chili pastes, fish sauce, soy sauce, with the peanut butter. And instead of making pickled onions, you can try adding onions into the stock! It releases a lot of flavor into the broth.
