    Two amazing players with solid ground strokes, terrific movement and impressive net play especially from Gauff. These 2 proved that contrary to what most people say, women's tennis is in good hands. There are quite a number of women who can play at this level or better. I would be happy if Sabalenka wins her 2nd Australia open. She has been very consistent.

      @jonfreeman9682 Through out the history of tennis, how many players have been as good as the big 3 and the Williams Sisters? They did their thing. Djokovic is still doing his thing. These new girls are also doing their best. You can either enjoy their matches, or continue to stick to the past. I miss prime Serena as well but her reign is over.

    Best performance (by far) from Coco in the tournament is the one she loses... that's life man. Sabalenka was also pretty awesome and showed us why she's getting that 2nd AO win this year, I'd bet on it.

    i had a feeling that this would be the exact outcome!! sabalenka in form and almost impossible to beat, but gauff being completely capable enough to trouble her substantially. very very good match and great tourney runs for both whether or not sabalenka wins (she probably will)

    I’m still very impressed by the level of coco’s play. Wow she’s talented and has variety. She needs a more dominant serve and to get more free points there.

      Her 1st serve was coming in at 186 - 195 KM's or about 115 - 120 mph,
      which is plenty fast enough. She's serving as fast as Sabalenka, but with
      the noise Sabalenka makes, it seems like hers if faster, but it's not. Just
      watch the serve speed clock, like I do. Coco's 2nd serve needs work tho.

      @@limfc6953it’s a matchup thing. Coco’s main strength is her athleticism and great movement but Iga is also a great mover and has a rally tolerance so it’s not that bothered that coco returns every ball. She matches her backhand and her forehand is superior. However Sabalenka tends to make errors after a while because she loses patience and is not moving on the level of Coco.

      @@dweeder1453 It's totally cheating. They need to tell her to stop! She doesn't shriek in practice, only in matches. Caroline Wozniacki has said that the shrieking players do it to try and make it difficult for the opponent to hear and gauge the ball speed. So shady!

    Coco’s forehand is 10x better than last match because she likes the pace. She likes to counterpunch on the forehand, and not comfortable generating her own pace on that wing…as hard as saba hits the ball, its better rythm for coco.

    It's one thing to grunt when you hit; it's something altogether different when it lasts several seconds, well into your opponent's stroke. It starts to take a toll on your opponent, who somehow manages to remain silent throughout the entire match. What an ongoing, oppressive hindrance!

      I love Sabalenka. I had been praying for her to beat Coco. I think the crowd in New York helped Coco too much. It was too much. I wish Sabalenka all the best. She works hard and nothing is given to her. Sabalenka is a great person.

    I can’t believe Saba is on my top 5 faves on the WTA. She was not as likeable a couple of years ago, I’m happy to see the changes. She’s not only a champ but also an amazing sport’s personality.

    Saba knew she should have won their U.S Open final last year, she had so many chances against Coco.
    Maybe the Pro-Gauff crowd there was a factor.
    Here at the Australian the crowd is evenly divided and Saba knows she is the favorite.
    She certainly made her point clearly and convincing today

      You're a little late to the party and nobody was worse than Monica Seles and her absolute screaming.
      They only got her to shut up once I believe it was the 91 Wimbledon final where she lost terribly,everybody's been screaming ever since.

    Gauff is still young and coming along nicely; shes improving her biggest error which was to hit the ball directly back to her opponents forehand without the opp needing to take hardly a step to get to it! stop being so nice, coco! shes a very serious player with a flat poker face most of the time. and Saba has greatly improved her overhitting errors in the last couple yrs.

      If/when she loses a step of speed she will be a nothing player. It's her speed that makes better players choke when playing her.

    This loss for Gauff was still very much a win. Both women are playing extremely well but you get the feeling Gauff is getting exponentially better every tournament. It won't be long before she is #1.

    I couldn't stay up for this, but it looks like it was a great match. I felt like Aryna would win, but have to give Coco credit for playing very, very tough. Not a lot separated these two. But it does feel like Sabalenka was going to win this all along. Good draw, playing at a very high level, and she's comfortable at AO.

    Saba has come a long way and is deserving of her success, very thoughtful tennis with soo much more composure. Brava. I still have to wear my earplugs bc it's too distracting, but if you put it on mute, you can really see how great she is doing.

    even though Coco didn't win the match, i really wanted people to start appreciating her game more. come one, how many 19-year-olds have achieved everything she's achieved in the last few years? i'm not saying people shouldn't criticize her when she's not at her best, but let's recognize that she's not an average player, she's a great one and has still a lot to accomplish. people out here saying she's overrated don't give her enough credit for everything she's built

      Not necessarily easily. We also thought she would win the French open easily last year, but she decided to be her own enemy, as she often do. Aryna is amazing, but her game is incredibly immature. She holds this delusional belief that every single shot must be hit with all the power she can summon.

    The speed on Gauff's 1st and 2nd serve don't affect Sabalenka from hitting the ball with abandon,..
    Gauff needs to make more preceise serves if she isn't going to get more mph~

Even cocoa semifinals us open opponent couldn't hit a ball in the court . Coco didn't earn it she was gifted the title. Easiest draw in this tournament and got spanked by the power hitter . Coco is just an athletic pusher . 1 grandslam will be all she gets .

    This was a good match. Sabalenka was relentless from the start with her ball striking; however, Coco kept it competitive. Also, this was Coco's best forehand performance all tournament so she really stepped up minus the serving which let her down in key moments, but credit to Sabalenka for keeping the pressure.

    Sabalenka has learned her lesson from the US Open with more patience and consistency. Gauff is also at her best in counterpunch, relentlessness, and consistency. It looks like the beginning of a good rivalry. In comparison, Swiatek and Rybakina had a disappointing AO both losing to young players. I think they know what to work on in order to become a force to be reckoned with in the future.
