Enjoying the podcast a lot, thanks for the open and easy listening vibes and it’s surprised me that it has opened me up to new books and interests that I otherwise wouldn’t consider. Like you said, I tend to read what I love, so it’s good to get some new perspectives as well. But the world being what it is and me being an anxiety ridden millennial like perhaps you are, I’ve avoided a lot of non-fiction going into detail on the unending injustices of American history lately. Getting enough of that through the news and socials but all too aware of the crumbling capitalism around us and how we could make things so much better and equitable if we could just put down the greed and self interest that is at the root of American culture. Phew, what a mouthful. Anyways, I’ve been reading the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles and they are wonderful gothy fantasy and wanted to recommend Memnoch the Devil and Blood and Gold in that series. Rice is so good at painting beautiful historical detail into these stories and they really delve into humanity’s questions of meaning and purpose as only immortal vampires can who are doomed to roam forever pondering the meaning of life, if there is any. Great to rediscover these stories.
