I agree with Simon about looking & sounding old fashioned but can’t deny those vocals! And love that arrangement. Kuddos to the band. Still one of the top performances of that night. But I kindda agree with Lulu.. I think You’re My World would have been a better song choice.
She was giving me Eartha Kitt vibes from this performance and I love it the only negative I have is her dress the color green seems out of place maybe a white or black dress would've fit better with the vibe she was going for.
I was a huge Lakisha fan and I adore this song but she, like many people, COMPLETELY missed the point and true tone of the song. She seemed to think it was about bling, but it's really a woman (or could be any person) who is trying to comfort and deceive herself that she doesn't need love
I don't think she missed that point since it's pretty clear in the lyrics 😊 I mean, diamonds are a girl's best friend is a similar anthem. You'll still feature real diamonds 🤷
She introduced me to Diamonds are forever and it is now my personal anthem, but would've loved to have heard her sing You are my World
I thought this was really underrated. I liked it and would've still put her in the top 3 performances of the night with Melinda and Jordin.
I also like Chris R. performance that week still confused as to why he was in the bottom 2 that week.

This is the one that got Lakisha eliminated...and it wasn't that bad but it was never gonna top "I'm telling you".
She was eliminated later during Bee Gees week.
She totally wasted Lulus advice... Lakisha was a good singer but with major problems on making the best choices for herself.
Obviously not when I'm still coming back to hear this performance 🤷 She may not have won, but I'm sure life made it alright. That's the real win.
