Gear is huge in dark and darker, starting small with 200g worth of gear allows you to start snowballing. You could easily be full blues and a purples weapon after just a few dungen runs of treasure loot only.
I find more success running templar/regals for the chest and running ANYTHING but platelegs, -18 movespeed is atrocious. everything else plate is fine though (helm gloves boots)
Weapon mastery is not required in this build, both ur weapons are native to fighter. Also i like to run heavy leather boots and pants and rivited gloves with templar armour and armet, this is a significantly lighter build with still about 30% phys resist. Frees up swift for something like combo attack for free dmg and WM can be swapped for counterattack. Works great with longsword and victory strike for 200+ dmg on riposte for 2 attacks. Still take sprint tho, its op Edit: each swing of riposte can hit 200s lol
Good point, you're the second person recommending trying lighter weight gear. To this point I've been happy in full plate, but I'm big on mobility too, so I'll try some things out.
Great video! This is by far the best class! I love cleric tho but he's not as fun imo but hes cool. I use victory strike instead of sprint and counter attack instead. Being up close and personal! Will the Zweihander fit better on him?
honesty i wouldn't say that this gearset is the best for fighter it has 0 mobility and if u get caught of gaurd you're dead an assasin rouge can one shot u if he has decent equipment and u cannot react to it, it's more TANKish in team comps it's a mid solo set crossbow is also good only if u have the cover and element of surprise to use it, it flaws in many ways as for chasing down enemies for that u can use francisa axes which are really important also it's hard to represent a Greenish armor in Goblin cave where the majority of people aren't really geared, in my opinion a fine curias with some heavy legings with strentgh and the same enchantemnts u used would be even more efficient.
Interesting ideas. Definitely the Fran Axes are big, I don't use them enough honestly. I still prefer Armor Rating over mobility as it has such a big impact. But ofc you could adjust more towards mobility and find some successful results as well. Thanks for commenting :)
Im more of a mobility level 20 too. Leather pants and boots make me faster and quieter. Plate chest and head. If I dont take a crossbow I make sure to take throwing axes. And if I dont take a crossbow its because I can chase faster with a sword and shield than a longsword. But I would never intentionally fight with the sword and board unless I ran into a spear using opponent.

A rogue wont be possible to kill a fighter given equally geared. I ambush , backstab, heatshot, weakpoint and hit a fighter 3 time before he react. just manage to die at the same time.
Yea I've recently been messing around with switching some of the heavier gear out for lighter. Heavy Leather Pants seem great. Both ways of building are totally viable. I'm thinking of making up a high mobility style build for it though.

yea, that is the problem with dark and darker, 90% of the game is decided by your gear, it is not like 2* your dmg, but sometimes 10* your dmg.At that point skill doesnt matter, map knowledge doesnt matter. I ran full purple and delete entire lobby, it is not as fun as running naked and escaped at my early lv.
As more and more people learn the game we should start facing more geared teams. Already was seeing that last few days of this playtest. It can get a little stale when you're geared vs. tons of grey gears though
Thats the point, but the other side of the coin is that if youre stacked with gear and NOT going for the big boy money makers (IE: Golden zVault, Hell Bosses, treasure hordes, etc.) Then youre kinda devaluing the gear you do have. Essentially using god tier gear for low tier rewards is gonns be less worth for your time no?
@@TheHonestSage our experience is that running god tier gear allows us to go on 20 run win streaks, so even if we aren’t pulling a ton of gold, we make more than enough to cover the 8,000 gold gear set we have on. Also super punishing if we die a couple times in short succession

My take is that ultimately pushing damage is the most important, especially if you can do that with Strength/+All Atts. It'll out perform pure Armor Pen. But with such little testing done out there, I'm sure there is more to learn
Personal opinion is your thumbnail fighter is all off. Not plate pants. Too much weight, too much speed debuff, not enough payoff. Same for shoes. I only do plate chest and head and go with leather pants and leather boots. Then a decent longsword and a crossbow. 3 bandages, 3 potions and bingo, bango I'm ready to roll.

In my exp though, players never go for my legs or feet anyway because the game hammers it into their head to go for headshots and settle for a thorax hit. The game literally says "limb hits do the least damage". So what I see is a whole lot of overcommitted opponents' thirst-swinging for my head. Which makes the longsword riposte so damn useful. Especially if you can break off a two-piece after a block. Lights out.
@@fwdcnorac8574 armor is applied to your full body in this game. equipping plate boots will make headshots do less damage. but yeah limb hits do 50% damage chest does 100% headshots do like 150-200%

Plus Heavy Leggings typically gives you a +1 str(more DPS). Same goes for shoes. Adventurer and Leather boots both have a movement speed of 5. And with plate boots its 2 plus the noise. For an extra 6 armor it ain't with the movement hit in this past build.

The fighter already has mobility, sustain with Second Wind, being able to use any weapon/shield, and high AR, fast at killing mobs, being able to use ranged as well just makes an already pretty good class into OP territory (and that's coming from a fighter main, stopped playing it after having so much money that I would only would use purples and wrecking lobbys 24/7)
I feel like almost all classes are considered op... plus theres a reason the top kill leaders are barbs by A LOT, and, overall, in all the leaderboards, theres only one fighter!
Barbs are only top of leaderboards because people charge them brainlessly and because leaderboards don't show their teammates buffing the hell out of them and getting the kills, if you kite a Barb then they literally can't do anything, it's pretty much the noob-stomper class that has no potential at high play (believe me, Barb was my second class, could clean a lobby 24/7 until good players show up, then you just can't get in without getting destroyed by range and pokes since Barbs are ridiculously slow, even without armor).
No, you can gear up just like this all of the time. Mid range greens and blues can be picked up for 100 and less. But sometimes the trades can be tight and you’ll need to spend more or just settle a bit more.
You can definitely get greens at a 50 average, and blues for 100, aside from the weapons and rings, meta weapons and rings generally cost a bit more (maybe 200 for blues).

10000%. Even I struggle off the start with all greys. But as soon as I can win 1 or 2, the snowball begins and doesn't stop.
What can you buy for 200g? All + damage items go for 200 or are sniped immediately

Hold alt and drag the bag to an empty square in your stash and it'll prompt you to split off

armor pen will help you alot when fighting high armor rating players but i wouldnt prioritize it over strength or phys power.

In my runs I find I prefer the tankiness of going all plate, but I can totally see where being more mobile could be great
