  • This is one of my Ken Loomer Big Band concerts that I do at the Straz Performing Arts Center in Tampa, Florida. When it`s my turn to do my drum solo, I want it to be dynamic and exciting for the people who come to my concerts. Over the years , I have tried out to use new drum techniques I have learned to make for a better solo. A few to point out is my single stoke roll using fingers, but as you can see no movement of my arms , wrist or fingers to do it. Playing the inside of the bass drum with my left hand, while doing cross overs with my right hand. All the new cymbal solo playing using my technique of stick on stick off the cymbal. Of course I love to use lots of dynamic`s and bending of notes off the toms. Playing with just the sticks doing flams. With the great sounding wide open tuning of these classic Slingerland drums, my drum sound projects so well in this concert hall. Always a joy for me to perform with all of my outstanding musicians in my Big Band.
