Love Paddys tunes and still learning them. Its a long process but well worth the effort and always a twist in every tune

Absolutely loved this!!! I listened to so many of his compositions, it was about time I listened the composer himself.

Great to hear this ...when hornpipes were not played like reels ..great musical sense and playing technique so accurate...he played the sweet music ...before tempo and sawdust!

Thanks for posting Larry! Here are the tune names for at least the two hornipes:
    1. Hornpipe -- Cronin's Rambles
    2. Reel -- know the tune, but can't think of name
    3. Hornpipe -- The Lone Bush (composed by Ed Reavy)

One of the names for the reel is "The Merry Days Of Easter". Harry Bradley recorded it as "Gary Hastings'" on his first album.

I first heard of Paddy O'Brien in the early 1950s and I'm sure I remember him playing on a 78 rpm record. Did he record as far back as that ?

He did and I recall hearing him on a 78 ..Spike Island Lassies.
