We were lucky enough to have this guy come to our jazz festival; amazing performances. And the humming that he's doing is actually him singing what he's playing, literally almost note for note; That's aural skills magic that I wish I had. He knows exactly what he's playing before he actually hits the notes.
@Tenorsarefun Check out the video of him talking at PASIC 2007. He explains it really well.
Why are these mallets not made anymore?
Malletech makes stefon harris mallets now
cool man keep up the good work
He's sooooooo good. Mind blowing. Funny question, but does anyone know what kind of watch and belt buckle those are? Haha
Does anybody know what song is playing from 0:23-0:31?
Stefon Harris & Blackout - Gone
Thanks Stefon I Have a set of your M36s signature Mallet. I Truly love them better with my Blues and R@B tunes more so then the Garry Burtons M25s. In That i use for my hard and fast standard jazz tunes and the likes of. Hope to see you in person some day.
How is this mic'd? Just one mic in front of both instruments? Sounds like the middle keys are a bit louder though..
Does vic firth still make this mallet?
that is true but they sounds awesome!
2:54 = Stella by Starlight. Not sure of the other one. I don't mind the humming - it displays the focus on melody.
could anyone please, please tell me what he's playing at 1:50 and at 2:54? it's beautiful.
this dude is a beast. those mallets look ridiculous, like clown noses.
@soundingplace cool.
I think the large mallet heads kinda sexy lol
lol, excellent player but it's super weird when he hums while he plays.
Lionel Hampton did the same thing. And Keith Jarrett also. So he's in great comosny6
@Tenorsarefun i hum when i drum :p idk it just happens
6:11 ~ DAT ASS!
Your humming is distracting, I hear it in a lot of your live performances.
