    Kipketer ran this race the same way I once did. 2nd year of secondary school. Sprinted to the front and finished 2nd last also

      Not developed countries, but developed cities with lots of people and tourists. For example, Beijing did extremely well even though China has asymmetrical development withing the country.
      We can actually just choose some cities around the world and rotate the event. We can add some and remove others depending on the circumstances. This way facilities would easier to maintain instead of making white elements.

    If Rudisha hadn’t won he would definitely have had words with his Kenyan teammate. The guy ran like an absolute twit, messing up Rudisha’s rhythm and almost tripping him up too.

      @@billtev9846 in some ways, i agree with bill. guy ran a way too fast first lap, so no one else made a move.
      then, rudisha got prime position in 2nd lane right behind the teammate. It was his break to make.
      Rest of the field waited, rudisha got to break when he wanted, and boom. gold medal.

      I think he was acting as pace maker for Rudisha. His job was to maintain a fast pace through the first 400m then fade

      He actually impeded Rudisha at least three times. HE is NOT a team player. He is a buffoon. I am glad he ended up where he ended. He was even busted for doping. I am Kenyan and his man is an idiot.

    I ran a lot when I was young but the 800m was always something special. I’d lay on the track afterwards completely wreaked 😅! I never felt so alive !

      I think kipketer threw the gauntlet down to foil any pre-race rudisha-personalised tactics. He's the sacrificial lamb 🐑 that helped Rudisha to run with ease and peace of mind. Let me support my case- at some point past the bell kipketer slowed down to allow David to take over but on a second thought, he continues speeding on the bed till the homestretch when now David took charge of the race....on another day, kipketer would have won the race

      He was also from Kenya, he prob just wanted his partner to win so he speed the pace at the beginning to hopefully tire out the other competitors. Meanwhile Rudisha was free to run his own pace.

    Just realizing that if not for Rudisha getting checked to the outside at the start of the second lap, he could have surged sooner and might have been able to take down his own WR by a few tenths of a second. That's insane

      @@sir_sack fam, you can literally see him get slowed down when he tried to make his move but got checked on the inside. I said he MIGHT have been in a position to take down his own WR.

      @@aarondavidson907 And I said he wouldn’t have. A 1:42 800m is about 7.80 metres per second, he was not slowed by almost 8 metres.

      @@aarondavidson907 He would have broke 1:42 but he was not breaking 1:41 in this race. Pre knee injury Rudisha was simply better and unmatched. This version of Rudisha was still remarkable especially when you consider what he was coming back from.

      @@whahappened8398 nothing better than 11, wasn’t a regular event. Long, high & triple jump along with the 400 & 4x4 were my main events.

    My best PR for the 800 meters is a 1:48.96 on the collegiate scene to finish second in the NCAA Track & Field Championships. I cannot image running a 1:42.15 time!!
