Chris: I absolutely liked your old school “dollars in, dollars out” value for what you’re getting philosophy. You were faithful to the core with “old school” thinking, reasons, arguments , etc., for either buying or not buying the Schuberth C5 except for one thing? AND that is; I don’t remember hearing you mention that you’d actually tried the helmet on for a quick spin to verify, (your “old school” opinions?! Best / Rola (Oregon / USA).
@inked-96 Agreed. I have a c4 carbon pro in the red/white color way and love the lightness of it but no way am I going to lay down some serious cash for a black helmet.
Being one that badgered you for one of these almost a year ago and collecting possibly the first out of the shop a couple of months ago i have to say I am well pleased with it - did it feel better that the C5 “standard”?, well to me it did and it looks fantastic.
Thanks, Chris. The point about carbon interfering with comms range is a deal breaker for me (on any helmet), so that was very valuable knowledge, thank you.
Thanks for the forthright commentary. It IS a lovely helmet and the lighter weight is certainly a plus. But as one shopping my first-ever modular for upcoming group touring, the reduced comms range is a strong disincentive. I'll be circling a "stnadard" c5 as well as the Shoei Neotec 3 (when it shows up here in the USA). Keep up the good work (and Schuberth, too)!
Excellent and straightforward video! First do you recommend the regular C5? Second, I have seen a C5 Master helmet. How is that different from the C5? Finally, the only benefit of the C5 Carbon is that it weighs less? No comfort benefits as a result of the weight reduction? And it offers the same features? I am asking because I do not know. Thanks
When your sitting in traffic in a beating down sun a carbon shell absorbs and transmits a fraction of the heat regular shells do. Learnt that with the original BMW carbon lid.
Another great video and very informative, thank you!! I have a regular C5 + comms and love it! I was looking at this carbon version as would go very well with the carbon on the bike, but 200-300 meters of talk distance.. that is really disappointing and won’t work for me when riding with others in the Alps for example.. 😢. Thank you for helping me avoiding this mistake (and all the frustrations that go with it during a motorcycle trip 😂). A question on carbon helmets in general: is the lifecycle longer..? A normal helmet should be replaced after max 5 years correct? Is that different for carbon? Thank you and keep up the great content! Greetings from The Netherlands
Hi Chris, when will the Shoei custom fitting be available? Sorry I know I’m talking about a different brand, but I have always struggled with Shoei’s. I am looking forward to the new custom fit service.

As nice as it is, having an all black helmet would be my last choice for colours. You need to be seen on a bike.

Do you think that’s compared to a normal black helmet? Would it be the same if you had a white helmet that didn’t absorb as much heat? CP
@Motolegends I must concede I've only ever had black or carbon helmets but they are chalk and cheese under Italian summer sun.
Thank u for your onest review

Isn't the chin bar still plastic?
Yes, sorry; you are correct. CP
Great review. I went with the Neotech 2, per your earlier review, and I love it. Fantastic helmet. Thanks!
Thank you for a great walkthrough loked and subscribed
Very interesting and well presented, thank you.
Good and useful info. Thanks! ⭐

I’m thinking early next year, but there will still b e some people for whom this won’t work. CP
@@Motolegends thank you Chris. I reckon it’s worth a try.
