Barbie is actually such a good role model for young girls and always has been. I never understood why so many people attacked her, she literally teaches girls to be kind and that they can be anything they want. That's great!
It was about the unrealistic beauty standards I believe. While I do like the babies movies for the music and nostalgia, I feel like their are better role models with a more characters with more rep and diversity that young girls could learn from rather then barbie

I feel like to me as a black woman Barbie had such a bright and joyful spirit that you never really focused on the horrible animation or the color of her skin. when i was in high school, a classmate got mad at me for singing a barbie song because "why didn't you watch bratz? barbie was just for white people" (she's black as well.) i DID watch bratz and while yes, they had more diversity, most of the stories were just plain stupidness, though i did enjoy them. i don't understand why it was so shocking to her that i watched barbie. the stories were good with good lessons and amazing songs!

Barbie gets a lot of hate for being an unattainable beauty standard, but Barbie has always been a huge inspiration to me. In the movies, it's never about her beauty or how she looks. It's about how beautiful she is on the inside by embodying values such as kindness, nobility, grace, creativity, bravery, and being a true friend. I love the lessons she taught about being true to yourself, and how she would ultimately triumph because she was kind and refused to give up even when everything seems to be going against her! The older movies especially are something I go back to from time to time and always fill me with hope and happiness. 💖

When you think about it, barbie is way ahead of time. She teaches girls/women about bravery, kindness, grace, solitude, to be a beauty with a brain, to be who you are even when the whole world against you especially the older ones. Each movie is about strong female character, girl power, we can stand for ourselves, no damsel in distress. I learned so much from barbie movies and the character herself. Compared to media and how society these days....sigh
In addition, it teaches about morals , ethics, forgiveness, sacrifice for loved ones, simplicity, satisfaction.
It teaches about life lessons and become decent people at least
Barbie has absolutely played a big part in my childhood she’s the reason why I was really a confident child when I was younger and participate properly in school activities....weirdly. but everything she did was always with confidence and elegance so I guess I learned that from watching every Barbie movie made back then and watching it a million times lol

I miss the old Barbie movies. Those are what defines my childhood. My father would buy me CDs and my mom would join in to watch with us. I watched Barbie for years that it taught me how to speak English (as well as Disney). This is an amazing playlist, it reminds me of the good old days.
Me and my two younger sisters would go with our dad to buy the cds and watch the movies over and over again! We couldn't afford cable or much for entertainment so those movies were just magical and we loved them, but when we got older we scratched them up and i think my mom threw them away and they aren't on netflix or anything so i haven't been able to watch them again. I miss watching them so much and i wanna go back to when I first watched them 😭

I've always loved Barbie, I've always wanted to be a princess, and I've always loved traditionally feminine things. But I'm not royalty. So, I just recently embraced my femininity. The world rejects me, feminism doesn't like me being ultrafeminine, but I don't care. I joined a guild of ladies (the feminine division of a bigger guild of both men and women), and I'm happy. I grew up watching barbie movies when I was younger until now. I never focused on barbie's apprearance I'm more focused on the values she is teaching, some of her simple jewelries like the butterfly necklace (fairytopia and magic of the rainbow) and the one in the nutcracker, and finally her songs. I never desired the image of barbie being the ideal figure of a girl. As long as I am healthy and not sick I am good with being a bit fat.

Just hearing the beginning "Aaha~" brought me back to when I was little. It makes me feel safe, calm, relaxed. At every "Aaha" I could feel my body relaxing more and more. Someday, I want to go back and watch all of the Barbie movies with my older sister, because we adored Barbie.
It didn't matter if the animation was good, if it had two songs, or none at all. The thing was, it made us feel magical.
Listening to this playlist makes me want to put on a princess dress, and sit out in a garden to forget that I can't be in a perfect world.

As a child, I missed out on Barbie As Rapunzel. I had this playing while I did homework. When I heard 10:55 I screamed cause I remembered hearing that in the ad for the movie and I think I scared my dad, but it brought back so many memories along with Sawn lake and 12 dancing princesses. I love this so much!

I feel bad for my future kids. They won’t be able to say they watched these as children. Or any of the amazing shows I grew up with. All that I grew up with is fading away. And is getting harder to find. I may never be able to show them what gives me tears of joy and nostalgia. A bright flood of wonderful memories. Shows that made my imagination grow and expand. Watching a movie that made me inspired to create my own. Running over to my toy box to find the characters to my next story. Or putting on my pink sparkly skirt and “clip clops” (high heels from my mom’s wedding). Getting ready to play my 12 dancing princesses CD in the radio. Grabbing my sister who was wearing her Cinderella dress and my brother who also put on a sparkly skirt. We then danced for hours excitedly. So many memories. Memories that bring joy to me. Something I haven’t felt in so long. My children won’t say they grew up with this.

You could always introduce barbie them. Similar to how music works, My mom would play music from the 80s and 90s (her generation) and I grew up listening to them along with her and now I have an appreciation for older music. Even if barbie is old, the joys, memories, morals, lessons that she brings is special for anyone ❤❤❤

As a trans guy growing up into my own person, the old barbie movies always gave me a sense of wonder and imagination that really inspired me to think outside the box. Being raised as a girl who is actually a boy on the inside really taught me the strength and wonders in tapping into my own femininity as a dude. I learned more about the importance of honesty, communication, the importance of emotions, self-acceptance and persistence from these movies than any other typical "boy" movie. I really thank the movies for being a solid foundation in embracing the feminine aspects of myself :)) (Random note: "Cat's Meow" was always my favorite from Princess and the Pauper lol)

As I was listening through the playlist, I couldn't help being reduced to tears. Barbie and these movies were such a big part of my life growing up, and I cried especially during the nutcracker portion. I have been doing ballet since I was little and this year I got the role of Clara. Just hearing the music from the movie and recognizing it as the same music I will be dancing to just brought an enormous wave of comfort and nostalgia over me. I will never be able to return to my more imaginative youth, but I am grateful that I was brought up with movies that display such splendor, magic, and kindness.

As a big fan of Barbie, she always makes my heart warm and it's not because her hair is blond and her skin is white. it's because she always has bright smile and kindness, grace, confidence, courage and also she knows how to love herself and other people. she taught me a lot of things. Now, when I listen to her song I can feel my heart beating. because that song reminds me about the beautiful times I spent with her as a child and those songs are masterpieces!!! I miss her so much these days

I miss my childhood when I used to sit in front of the tv right away after getting up to watch Barbie and will keep repeating until night.. Dancing around with my free soul and live my happiest life.. just me and Barbie.. Now, I am finally 18 and I still feel the magic and these songs make me feel calm and help me to forget all of the toxic things that happen in my life.. Listening to these songs just make you feel like you are in another world.. I'm not crying, you are.😢😭
When I was a child I remember wanting to be like barbie because of her kind and brave personality. If anything it was always the adults around me who would say stuff regarding her physical appearance and focus on her looks
