Johnny Marr recently made a video with fender playing "you just haven’t earned it yet baby” at the end, it’s a great melodic chorus. I’m finding it hard working out what he’s doing, I think you’re the man for this job :) 🎸👊🏻
I have a love/hate relationship with my strat - on the one hand I hate the out of phase quack, on the other, I love the darkness and depth it can bring - this is a perfect example.
Thanks, I try my best to be as accurate as I can. That being said these lesson videos are an opportunity to get into a bit of the theory and harmony JM was using in The Smiths. And then hopefully you can deploy that in your own songs/ideas
@@HeadlessGuitarPlayer absolutely. I learned how to play parts over the years but you really nailed the picking pattern. Hopefully someone gets my joke in my first comment.
Adam - immense as always. This has improved my playing of this a few notches - particularly the Am riff, where I wasn’t quite hearing the bass notes in the recorded version. I know it’s quite synth-ey… but do you have any interest in turning your considerable talents (and patience) to oscillate wildly?
Utilising ever string and note that we don't hear on the recording, deffo changes everything. It's certainly it and that's of course maher. How did you figure this out, with a separate track machine or by ear headless? Fantastic. Had a roland few years back. Ta
Bar third fret - C at 5th fret (G string), A at 5th fret (E string). The F6 chord is created by the D at the third fret, other notes are part of a regular F triad.
That solo/outro is really one of the best changes ever written.
Love the intro ❤

Lyrics by Johnny Marr. Brilliant!
Oh I’ve been waiting for this!
Enjoy!
This is my favorite, and so perfectly played. thank you :)
Covering all parts (very well, mind) in a single play gives this a very Billy Bragg feel. Great job!
This is so helpful thanks and fantastic lesson/demonstration by your good self. This is one of my most fave peices of music of all time..

Brilliant. Been trying to figure this one out for ages. Fantastic job 👍
Can’t wait for the next video
I was just thinking how much we needed a lesson on this song! One of my favorites! This channel really is the right stuff to learn Smiths riffs!!!

Thanks, I also missed those notes until analysing the thing. Unsure what to pick next but leaning towards the live version of What She Said
Do you use a clean boost with Johnny Marr / smiths songs?
No don’t use a clean boost, but sometimes a JB Nano compressor which can give a similar effect
Awesome! Are you going to release the tabs as well?
Thanks. I haven’t done any tabs for this but hopefully the lesson explains it. You can take a few liberties with this one to be honest

Thanks. I use Transcribe! software to isolate the guitar and transcribe by ear. If I can find a decent live video bootleg I’ll use that too
How do you finger that F6 (I think you called it that) in the intro?
Bar third fret - C at 5th fret (G string), A at 5th fret (E string). The F6 chord is created by the D at the third fret, other notes are part of a regular F triad.
