I always had trouble with the early Rockey Buggy shotting down on that oil derrick, and playing Kwai only further put me onto that trouble because Kwai had no artillery

They can be really pesky. I think it has to do with building placement or just sheer luck what pathing they use.

why didn't you build a nuke during the early game?

Hi, I don't remember exactly (has been a while). But nukes are expensive + take a lot of space. Money and space you get more in the late game.
