The preview looked cool, but the tutorial itself was disappointing. Wrong perspective, non-uniform scaling, and the overal level of precision made me wanna puke actually.
I honestly think doing any of these are just better if they are rendered from 3D. Saves time and gives you more to work with (Changing the geometry, applying advanced light...)
It would probably be a good idea with the castle to have gone to camera raw filter then apply correct vertical lines, which would pull all those splaying turrets rigidly upwards parallel to each other.
Wow!, this looks amazing! :D I'm very tempted to try this out one day, looks really cool! Also, do you happen to have a tutorial on how to make patterns? Just wondering, thanks! :D
that is photoshop. but let me say: It's not important whatsoever, which software you use - as long as you know how to use it. you can achieve the same results with corel photopaint / paint shop pro, gimp or paint.net - the main differences are the workflow and the different UIs. If a program works for you use it, learn how to get better and enjoy your progress!
interesting idea but the video itself was kinda disappointing. you seemed to be unsure at some points on what to do. and that castle has a wrong perspective. and really? palm trees?? sorry but that wasnt really good. nothing learned
There's a couple different perspectives going on there...

Cool, I always wanted to learn how to create maps of Age of Empires: D

when you were awkwardly dragging the soil around, try just holding ctrl and dragging a corner of the soil to its matching corner of the outline
