Great video as always I was listening to it in a specialist hospital in Liverpool awaiting a triple heart bypass on Thursday. I could be heard by everyone goodness knows what they were thinking but I don't care Ipswich are my club and I love em. I listened to the BBC 5 Live commentary and the guest summariser- a former goalkeeper whose name I forget- said it was a penalty. I'm certainly not complaining. Chelsea dominated possession in the first half and to be honest I was surprised we went 2-0 up. There are lots of positives to take from this game; Easter is when we will be in a better position to assess our likelihood of staying up. I'm especially pleased for Kieran McKenna, his coaching team and the players. In many games we weren't quite there and a brain fade here and there cost us valuable points. A clean sheet and three points against a top six team is a huge morale booster.
Yellow and Green view, I'd say Town were awesome. Chelsea were poor, but too me Mckenna has finally woke up and figured how to win a Premier League match.
As you say Rich, penalty decisions tend to even out, for and against, across the season, however I think we got a bit lucky here because there was insufficient video evidence to exonerate the keeper who, at the end of the day, did put his foot in when he probably didn't need to in any case. Eternally grateful to him for that 😂, but we were well worthy of the win last night, penalty or not. While it was unbelievably dull to watch, I think the Arsenal game was an essential stepping stone to last night's performance and, as I mentioned to you in comments yesterday, I feel that the tried and tested formula of KM significantly improving the team in the second half of the season might yet be happening again. Of course this isn't going to be an easy ride, especially next month, but a few more draws and maybe six or seven more wins might well be enough to keep us up. It's so sad that this will almost certainly be the sole season with Delap, but it is already an incredible investment and we can use the massive transfer fee to further strengthen the whole spine of the team, whether we stay up or not. That has to be the business model for teams like us. Quite clearly Walton is, literally, a keeper as a starter from now on and I think we can also say the same for Broadhead, who looked more solid and creative than any of our other decent options in that position. I guess the important thing going into the weekend is managing expectations of what that result might look like. However we can take massive confidence out of beating one of the top scoring teams in the whole of Europe right now with a clean sheet and we certainly gave Fulham a stiff test at Portman Road. Totally agree that we just have to enjoy the ride. Great summary as ever. Happy New Year and congratulations on a successful channel launch in 2024.
I like watching your videos but even though it could well happen ,you can't say 100% that Delap will leave in the Summer and you wasn't praising enough of Walton ,
@TheSuffolkCrunch Clearly you are just still drunk 🤣, You was probably one of the guys who said McKenna would leave when other clubs took an interest in him but I was always confident he was going to stay with us .Back to Delap,Ive never said that he won't leave for a bigger club next season and leave us in the Summer BUT if we managed to stay up,there is a chance that Delap will not want to leave yet as he is enjoying working under McKenna who is bringing his game on in folds and if that's the case ,Ipswich could turn down big offers for him .
