What a great day to find treasures for your home. Thank you for the information regarding the pieces you bought. Very interesting and makes you more aware of what you are purchasing. Love the glazed sand stone bowls and vase. You have a good eye for beautiful bowls etc. These items are so compatible to your home. The chair is lovely and you got it for such a great price. Always like following you around these great places to find treasures. Take Care and All The Best!
Always love to see your little trips. I love the brown pottery, crocks, and old the olive jar. Things that can group together to form a texture and soft natural color. Like you, the vintage things add so much and tell a story.
Unfortunately, beautiful, romantic France also has some major junk like the US. It takes a discerning eye to find the unique. I really like the items you purchased.
Thank you for a very fun and educational Vlog, I love how you explain to us things we wouldn’t know about, especially those of us who live the French life vicariously through you☺️ Thank you for all your hard work, the location of your new home is breath taking and really makes me want to travel to the Burgundy countryside of France.
Merci Marloes! Loved visiting the Emmaus store with you & loved ALL your finds especially the old trough Olaf will use - for gardening I really like battered & worn items that are still useful & look great! Here in Tasmania & Australia we would call what you do Op- shopping - I think from Opportunity shops where unwanted things are donated to charity shops so they on-sell and make some money for charitable works. Many enjoyable hours have been spent rummaging through other peoples junk to discover useful treasures! Enjoy your week ☀️
I enjoy shopping with you at the thrift stores. I love white so would have purchased all the white vases, jugs and pots that were in the outside section.
Thanks for showing what you got at Emmaus/Brocantes and also for explaining and actually teaching about details and what to look for when buying secondhand 🇩🇰👋
As you walked along, the green and white gravy dish and later, the green white platter really caught my eye, as did the cobalt and white pieces. I would have bought that black wire tray and spray-painted it blue, then used it as a display piece for cobalt and white pottery pieces. So many other stoneware pieces, also. 👍😊
We have a different color pallett preference but I enjoy your exploration. I would have gotten that blue crockery midwife pitcher and maybe the fall purple vase.😎
How fun! Thanks for showing us your "haul" after you purchased your items. You have great taste! 🥰 I would have also tried to make a deal on the momma cow and baby calf! Ha, ha! 😍
So many beautiful things I had pick up: One plate with a monstera leaf, the other green plates with flowers, a pink tulip shaped vase, this white plate with a bright pink magnolia, this amazing 70s brown vase on the white shelfs ..and then you have these stunning pastel vases inside by the first brown shel you showed next to the picture from the lady. reminde me so much of summers in rome in the 80s.
My grandparents were hard working, Cajun French speaking farmers at the turn of the last century in a rural area one hour outside of New Orleans, LA. Many of the items you showed today were the type of pieces I saw in their homes. It is rare to find anything like it today but I keep looking. I am a new subscriber to your channel. I would enjoy seeing more of the kitchenware from your own home in future videos.
Welcome to the channel! I basically use all these items with my family! We currently live in the holiday cottage while we renovate the part of the house we’ll live in ourselves and where we’ll have our kitchen.
Oh, I love that Emmaus. It is my favourite! I just discovered your channel, and when you mentioned visiting Le Creusot (when you go through it t collect the chairs) my ears perked up. We are 20 minutes from there. So strange to see videos on RUclips of our area. We too moved to Burgundy in 2018, are restoring an old house and overgrown garden, love the slow life in the country side, visiting Emmaus, brocantes and vide greniers. Have you ever been to the monthly one in Givry? Such fun to find your videos!
New here to your channel. I love the pottery pieces you got. I enjoy watching what people find at their stores versus what is here in the US. I also like the flower pot even if aged and chipped but that is a style I like. Beautiful countryside
I love all of your videos but especially enjoyed this one. It was so much fun to look through the tables with you. I saw a few items that I would consider taking home. 😁 I really liked seeing how you used items in your home. Thank you for sharing!
Great finds Marloes 👍 I could spend hours there 😆 I too love all the natural earthenware pots & bowls. I did spot a lovely large jug at 5:55 … that would be lovely filled with flowers. Thank you for taking us along with you 💕
A lovely video. We bought a similar sink as it was the size we wanted. They are very easy to re-caulk - many people restoring properties in the UK now do this.
Cool! Yes I found some information on that as well. I guess ours is good enough as it is. I like it when things are practical and beautiful at the same time, but so that I am not afraid to damage anything, it takes away my joy in cooking and using my kitchen.
Hello, I loved the content in todays video (I love all your videos)! As a teacher, I enjoy learning about the history of kitchenware! I will have to keep my eye out for some French plates/crocks here in California.
I love the older blue and white transfer plate! Would love to add it to my collection! Interesting video. I lived in France for a year as a grad student and wish it had been longer. Greetings from San Diego, California.
Hello, Bonjour Marloes, I appreciated the insightful video! Personally I loved all the neutrals and the mustard pots and d- stoneware which I use for our kitchen. I’m a huge fan of the neutral pitchers with handles shared and would of snatched them all. 😂❤
Oh I always love all the gorgeous things you find around where you live. Especially those beige/white digoin bowls you found not so long ago. I would have totally gotten those too!
I looooove love love going to brocantes! here in Perú, where I moved 4 years ago, there are not that many :( even the few antique shops sell exactly the same. So I really enjoyed this video Marloes!!!
Love and enjoy this video so much ! I am in awe when I see you hunting because I saturate so quickly when I see all this mass of hideous objects that very quickly I stop...too quickly to find a treasure like you take home. Is it currently difficult to find plates "terre de fer" ?
I have the same "overwhelm" when I shop at Emmaus! That is why you see me scanning so quickly. I went at bit slower because I was filming but usually I go really quick, else all the colors, shapes and junk just totally overwhelms me. Yes I would say terre de fer is not something I see all the time at Emmaus. I did find my gorgeous large set at an Emmaus though, but I hardly see any there, so it's not easy to find. However, if you shop at brocantes (by professional brocanteurs) you can find them pretty easily. There are even many that specialize in it. If you'd like me to share addresses, let me know!
Ik wilde in het engels antwoorden tot ik je NL hoorde praten😂. Ook wij hebben een (tweede) huis in Frankrijk sinds een jaar en ik ben gek op emmaus! Heel leuk om je vlogs te volgen!
Thank you for being here! I don’t have a website but all items that are available are on my Instagram page @frenchvintagestyle_com I am hoping to be more active with the shop when our building works are finished, it’s challenging to store, sort and pack everything safely when the house is upside down so I currently am keeping things small. But do let me know if you see anything or are looking for anything in particular. Thanks!
Do you have tips for négociating the prices at these brocantes? There’s never a price on the items so I have no idea the real price to start so I always ask what is the price or how much do you want for this . They give me a price and I try with knocking it down most of the times they just say no it’s just their price no negociating . What do you do 😊
My advice? Don't. At Emmaus it is really not done to bargain. It is a charity so you're not shopping there with the intention to get things at the lowest price. Sometimes when I buy multiple things they'll give me a special price but I don't negotiate. At brocante markets or vide greniers you can simply say that the price is higher than what you'd want to spend and see if they feel there is room to bring it down. On a vide grenier t's just between two non professionals in that case (unless there are clearly professionals stands), like when you buy on Facebook marketplace. And honestly: I have an online brocante shop and do not appreciate it when people bargain. I spend hours driving everywhere and finding the best items so it is a curated selection of items and I price them at what I think they're worth and buyers buy it if they feel that item is worth that price to them. There is no reference in knowing the value of an item, unless it's proper antiques. Of course you can always do a quick google search and see at what price an item is sold in the various online shops (Etsy, online brocantes and even eBay for example) and then decide what you want to spend on it. But please don't bargain at Emmaus, I personally feel that is very disrespectful. And if a professional brocante seller is a nice person running a small business, please be respectful to them and honor the sourcing work they have done for you.
@@FrenchCountryLife thx I was more specific to the antiques open air markets I go to Italy a lot and there is room to negotiate, the price is never the price they say 😅
@@Ciaostella24 Ok! Yes I understand, and it can be a bit uncomfortable. I specifically mentioned Emmaüs because that’s where I go to in this video. I’d say research online and when you have a love at first site item, just buy it if the price feels like it’s worth it. Even if you pay a little too much, if the item brings you joy… joy is priceless!
Wait, wait a minute!!! Je bent van Nederlands??!!! Do you know my cousin who lives in Argentat? Just kidding. Was taken aback when you started speaking, lol
I had a pop-up shop but stopped selling as a professional as I have too many other activities for my businesses. I only sell an item every now and then. I do still have my instagram account which you can find in the description. I do plan to do brocante shop tours and am going to film at one where the shop owner also ships internationally! And if there is anything specific that you're looking for you can always let me know and I can see if I have that or be on the lookout for it!

Thanks for letting us tag along with you. I enjoyed the outing and you went slow enough for us to see lots of stuff! 👍🏻😊

Teapots with no lids are great to plant in! Look beautiful!
Nice sentiment towards the end. Buy what you like.
Love the mustard and olive pots. My mother was an artist and she’d store her brushes in the mustard pots.

I loved the "made in France" dishes with the brown flowers!
Helemaal met je eens dat alle mooie spullen buiten staan
That white and blue enamel fondu ❤ ( 27.04 ) so pretty.

Yes I really liked that one too! But not enough room to store it right now, so left it there with regret…
In one of your videos you showed a berry washing colander, stunning
Thanks for taking us along with you! I collect transferware dishes too. Love old crocks as well TFS! I spotted some copper items.🥰

Do a couple bowls or pots with a Pothos vines in them. They don't require a lot of light and easy to grow.

I would've pick up the brown crock for my kitchen cooking utensils.
I loved the large beige pottery jug on the top shelf outside. Couldn't see if had any damage though.

true, that’s what I typed in the video… can’t show you because it’s a storage room that literally so packed you can’t see anything

Lovely to see this. Where is this store?
It's in Burgundy in a tiny hamlet called Sasoge.
